Skemp, are you in PR shape less than a year after leaving the Olaf program? Is Kelly really trying to solo 14:05? Or is he pacing. Does Power’s boss know he’s paying alumni to fly in to pace? Doesn’t seem very fiscally responsible. And why wouldn’t they go run a 300m track with the Gophers?

Assuming they are going for nationals qualifiers, then they’d need to run faster on a 300m track than 200. Presumably, Turlington is the only one with a chance, but probably added others over seeded to do early pacing. Some probably going for prs. There are a whole bunch of different reasons for different people most likely.

Mo got his qualifier and PR at the time at that race. Power provided a pacer and Turlington to run with. Guys get sick or injured, but that January race is always a fun opportunity that focuses on a fun environment and fasts times. If anything, the Gopher failed to show/match their seeds. From what I know about Power he's doing everything he can for his team and doesn't care about who else shows up. I do know he told several athletes and coaches at the Regional they should join for the meet at the U. I also think it's cool Skemp and Kelly are coming back to race with their former teammates.
I don't think the seeds are that outrageous Turlington was 12th in XC, surely he thinks he can run sub 14:20 after running sub 14:10 last Spring. 14:45 for Deaver and Gael doesn't seem out line with what they've done in the past. Gael finished 50th in the country in XC, so I bet Power hopes he can PR. Deaver ran with him for most of the race before dying in the last K and still running 25:23. If anything, I think Power underseeded some of the other guys. And let's be honest, River Falls has some of their own ambitious seeds.

This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Why would another coach be attempting to prevent Mo from going somewhere else. Power paid for the pacer for his own athlete, but also promoted the race as an attempt to run national qualifying marks. He’s done this every time. He paid for the pacer at Hamline Outdoors last year. I’m sure he’s paying Kelly and Skemp. More coaches should be putting together ambitious attempts to run fast instead of sitting and kicking in races that don’t matter to run times this don’t make nationals. Mo is one of the best we’ll ever see, but this page criminally under rates Kevin Turlington. Bubs who can’t break 26:00 act like placing 12th in the country in XC or running sub 14:10 isn’t prolific.

Back in Phil's day, none of the Oles needed pacers. Mo has absolutely no need for a pacer to run fast. Fiona, Clara, and Wilkinson never needed one. I think this really diminishes the Oles' recent successes.
