I don't get why Midwest is being held so highly on here. What have their teams done the past 5 years? Nothing. South teams are miles better than the Midwest teams this year. There is no way 3 teams from Illinois can beat Southlake Carroll, Austin Vandegrift, Bentonville, Woodlands TX, Jesuit LA, etc
Bridgeland TX graduated pretty much no one and got a 9:05 3200 transfer. Definitely in contention to possibly win the TX state meet and NXR.
On the boys side, no one from Colorado in the top 16, and no one from Utah in the top 21, but last year a bunch of Southwest guys came out of nowhere and placed in the top 10
Southwest - Herriman/Niwot 1-2 at NXN, 1-2 at NXR. Guaranteed at large to American Fork for top 6 at NXN, possible at larges to Mountain View UT, Coronado for a top 10 finish to whoever gets it.
Northwest - Crater wins NXR, Jesuit 2nd. Crater top 6, Jesuit top 10. Possible at larges to CDA/Rocky/Franklin. Whoever gets it places top 15 at NXN.
Midwest - Downers Grove north or Plainfield south to go 1-2 at NXR. Both place top 12 at NXN. Possible at large to Rock Bridge for a top 15

I think more top teams should post their vlogs on here. I happen to find a youtube for the Mira Costa boys team, one of the top california teams that was trying to make nxn. I like seeing how much effort and hard work it takes these teams to reach their goals
Mira Costa still might have another chance to make NXN this year. Although they do lose a lot of people, they still return 3 guys from the state meet, and from that meet they were missing Ian Hansen, who ran a 9:19 and 4:16 this spring, and will be a senior this year. They return 4:16, 4:21, 4:22, 4:23, 4:24, 4:32, 4:32 1600 times but we need to see how this translates to XC. Only 2 people in this group will be seniors so the future is bright for them.

Eh it's a tough region there are 7 teams with similar or better returners but most likely only 2 teams will be able to go. people seem to be insistent that at-larges should go elsewhere after great oak got 17th

I don't really agree at all tbh. SW at-large in 2022 got 17th but came back the following year going 1-2-5-9 at nxn with 2 at-large bids this time. I think it's fair game until the racing starts and team times start rolling in. That goes for northwest, midwest, northeast, south, california
Always a really interesting analysis by tullyrunners. From a California persepctive, it was a smart move to leave Jserra CA out of it. 4:17 average and probably good woodbridge times but that team will crumble when met with any resistance. I think Mira Costa boys could be in the mix and shouldn't be overlooked. They have a good xc record and returning 5 guys under 4:24, most being sophmores, is promising.
