Actually Uncle, I'm in New York City public schools where a child born in 2005 is in 12th grade and THAT'S an indisputable fact. That's not considered a home schooled commune, I don't think.

Nine years later, you will start 9th grade at age 14 and turn 15 between September 1 and the end of August of the following year. So, frosh are 14-15, sophs are 15-16, juniors are 16-17, and seniors are 17-18. There are exceptions. A few kids skip a grade or enter kindergarten early and start college at 16 or 17, while about 8-10% of boys now start kindergarten at 6 and turn 19 prior to attending college. Some even do a post-graduate year at a prep school before attending college. /debate.

No. You need to understand that words have different meanings in America and this one is used in sports frequently and positively. I call my daughters studs all the time.
You are correct. I really think that people on Letsrun are not the smartest people so they are not being difficult, they just don't know. There are many here who seem to think that the cutoff is December 31 rather than September. I believe that parts of NYC use that cutoff but 99% of districts in the country use a September cutoff. My wife started school on the East coast a long time ago. She has classmates who have fall birthdays who started at age 4 which makes my wife still struggle with the common cutoff as September these days. I think her state changed their rules long ago.
No one here is pointing to the birth month as the odd issue here. Even assuming November is within whatever cutoff applies, it’s clear this kid was held back a year in school or started a year late. Whatever. It happens. Just don’t then say it’s astounding that a sophomore ran this time when you should be looking at juniors for apples to apple comparison.

He didn't overlook anything. He provided one of the meanings. In the US it has that meaning. Ask a high school athlete or their parents whether "stud" is a compliment or not when used in that situation.

well, he for sure satisfied this part - “No student, whose 19th birthday is attained prior to June 15, shall participate or practice on any team in the following school year. A student, whose 19th birthday is on or before June 14, is ineligible.”
