I doubt they were tempoing the race. However, I also doubt they are in trouble. At least as far as the conference and regional meets go. They tend to be stronger during the championship races. Michigan Tech was impressive at MSU.
When have GV ever looked good in any meet before nationals? In 2017 Panning was like their #4 at regionals and the was 2nd place at nationals. They have a weak schedule and use it to their advantage to peak at the right time.
What are everyone's thoughts on Adams, Westerns and Mines openers?
True GV never looks good during the regular season. They will peak well at nattys and get a trophy but i dont think they will be able to defend their title.
Western had a strange few opening meets. Ran some, didnt run others. No Jama in the results? Hopefully he isnt injured. They cant afford to have one of their top 4 get hurt.
Mines had the best opener. Looks like they tempoed as a group and still got a perfect score. If they hold fitness they will be unstoppable.
Adams looked alright. Slower times than previous years on their home course but they are solid enough to maintain their spot on the podium
Gotta admit, a down year is making this more interesting than usual. All of a sudden we can talk about other teams outside the big 4. Chico, Souix Falls, Michigan Tech, Augustana all have possible shots at the podium on a perfect day.
Interesting thing about GV this season is that they have a few redshirt freshmen that are beating some regular varsity guys. I know they're not big on running guys as true freshmen, but maybe this is the year?
Southern Stampede was this weekend, looked like a good battle up front from Missouri Southern, Northwest Missouri, and Alabama Huntsville. Alabama Huntsville was unranked and definitely went in with something to prove but should be some good racing this weekend to see where more teams line up
Michigan tech goes home DEVASTED from Roy griak. AUGIE curb stomps competition. After a good showing against GV Tech proves they had just one good race in them. Looks like souix falls also tempoed the race and still almost beat MTU.
Still was a solid showing for MT and Souix Falls has still to look good this year. UCCS gets 4th at the D2 challenge just goes to show how overrated they are. Chico looked good at the Capitol Crossover, Queens looked better than the first meet while Alaska Anchorage has 2 guys and thats it. I see some more movement in the rankings this week
Crazy the d2 showcase was separated by 8 points to the top 4 teams. USI barely edged out the 20th and 16th ranked teams I would expect them to fall a couple spots

bro how are you gonna call this a solid analysis. whoever does these rankings knows nothing. for some reason they think queens is a top 10 team when two races in a row they get beat by unranked teams no way they deserve to be a top 10 team. as well as UCSD whos top guy was a 14:55 last year. however i do agree with Augie being 7th but Souix falls should not be right behind them
I think its cool they are trying to give good D2 coverage. No need to rip into them just cuz you dont agree with their rankings. But i agree Queens is not a top 10 team. They have been racking up losses to nobodys all season. Put Michigan Tech in there instead. They gave GV a scare just a few weeks ago.
Looking forward to this weekend. Western, Mines, Missouri Southern all at chili pepper. I think Mines will come out on top. Likely scalp D1 Arkansas as well
Missouri Southern is not on the entry list for Chile Pepper, only d2 ranked teams are Mines, Western and NW Missouri.
Mines looked good at Chili Pepper
West Texas A&M looked good at Louisville. Mines showed why they are the top team in the country right now and Western looked very strong as well. NW Missouri has a good top 3 but their 5 could be a major issue if he doesn't close the gap. Adams showed why they are always a contender as they ran well at Paul short. We've finally been able to see all the teams race and this is where I think the teams would stack up.
1. Mines
2. Chico
3. Adams
4. Western
5. GV
6. Missouri Southern
7. Augustana
8. West Texas A&M
9. Michigan Tech
10. Queens
Mines looked very solid but their spread was larger than Adams spread, not sure what to make of it but could play a part down the road? Western have a strong 2 but question marks after that. Adams look solid but lack a low stick right now, need Kale Adams to be back to 3rd place form from 2017.
Only one coming out of the MIAA is MoSo...maybe
Same could be said for West Texas A&M at louisville, seems like everyone and their mother PR'd there by a decent amount. Considering the winners ran faster than Cheserk did on that course. Probably a little shorter than 8k...
Lacking in low sticks yet have two of the quickest times in the nation this year...?
