Didn't see this post. This is more how I understood it happening just talking to a few people. Someone very quickly acted and that may have saved his life.

Clearly NHRR and millrose have no idea what to do in this situation. There was a not insignificant delay in response to the down runner, he kind of laid there a while before anyone bothered to check him out and then we’re all watching to see if anyone will take action.
Didn't see this one either. Rewatching the video. I think you were right on it. I disagree with no one checking him out immediately. They weren't medical people but 2 guys in suits were on him immediately after he fell from rewatching on NBC

Then watching NBC Gold you can't see much until almost exactly 2 minutes after he fell when there is a much bigger crowd around and a woman who is wearing I think Columbia Sports Medicine at first runs off screen and then turns and I think she might even start chest compressions (can't tell for sure but she starts to straddle him).

The two gentleman pictured did approach immediately. They however were lacking two major things 1) a radio to call emergency personnel. And 2). Medical training. Someone had to physically run to the training room in the opposite corner.
Both are things that need to be changed. When they finally got the trainer there she seemed unprepared. She was empty handed. Had it not been for medical professionals in the crowd the situation would have been a lot worse. In situations like this seconds count. Something as simple as radio contact could have saved time. They definitely need to look at their emergency plans in the future.
No axes and wouldn’t wish that situation on any person, facility or special event director but you need to be humble and stop the event regardless of what event. Time is money but a man was dying.
I heard that spectators jumped out the stands are started CPR, can’t confirm this but I am sure others can.
That is correct- people came out of the stands for cpr.
Should every individual in the entire building including the athletes have radios on them at all time to call medical personnel? Should we expect medical professionals to appear instantaneously out of thin air at any given location on the track? Or in the entire building? Have some common sense....
Wow! Scary stuff. Reminds me of Ryan Shay in the 2008 OT marathon. I hope the outcome in this case is better.
I think the criticism of the response is off. The response was good. No doubt this incident will lead to even more preparedness for emergencies at meets—which is a good thing. That being said, I think the folks who responded in this case did a fast and appropriate job.

No but perhaps at least one meet official should have a line of communication with the medical team? Quit being an ass.
A lot of times it’s not the heart condition that causes death, it’s the fall that the person takes when they collapse. When they bang their head off the floor, it can be fatal.
It didn’t look as though he fell terribly hard. Can’t tell from video but it seemed like he started to guide himself and landed on his side.
Hopefully he makes a full recovery and can continue his life.
If he's being sedated, he's likely in a hypothermic protocol (the caregivers are intentionally cooling his body temperature)---there has been fairly good data to support hypothermia for brain protection following a cardiac arrest. Unfortunately, an initial head CT will often not reveal brain damage due to lack of oxygen.
Bottom line...the doctors may not know the status of his brain for 48 hours. On the other hand, if he was responsive/communicative immediately after he was defibrillated/resuscitated; this would be excellent news for his overall prognosis.
Prayers to Kemoy and his family and friends as he recovers.

Hindsight is 20/20. KC is still alive, so they did something right.
The sad truth is that 90% of cardiac arrests which occur outside hospital result in death. Without evaluating him, it would seem KC had a heart attack or irregular heartbeat.

EMT's were there. They can not be on a person within seconds when there are tons of people in the way.
To make things worse, he fell right on top of all of the starting blocks. They had been moved to the inside of turn two for some reason.
I was taking photos from the first row of 444, which is even with the PV standards. I have a series that I've noticed this AM show some of the activity, taking place behind the leader (Patrick Tiernan). I was unaware of the crisis for a number of laps, until I started to hear ppl say, they're doing CRP/compressions, etc. They reflect the growing presence around Kemoy, as shown in the screens shots you've posted. The race official was at his side within one lap of when he collapsed.
Having had heart issues myself since the early 80's (PVC's), multiple ablations, pacemaker... and a very fit friend have a heart attack following a workout (he is 70) just three weeks ago, this was for me a chilling experience. Take good care of yourself, being a fit athlete does not make you immune.

This, in spades.
I know many athletes who ignore their family history, and their own behaviour (think diet). They avoid the physician even though in one case, this very fit athlete's father died of CA in his 50s. Others who developed diabetes, despite being thin and eating loads of ice cream etc.
This sport does not confer immortality, or suspend medical probabilities.
Shame on any and all who were taking photos or video of what was happening with Mr Campbell.

Chest compressions should always be started IMMEDIATELY upon realizing the pulse is absent. Every second counts because if the heart is not pumping, the brain is not perfusing with blood and the clock is ticking for brain damage/death.
An AED cannot always be used. Contrary to popular belief, an AED cannot be used if the patient's heart is asystolic (heart has stopped). An AED CANNOT restart a stopped heart. The AED can only be used when there is an arrhythmia, either V-tach or V-fib. In both cases the heart is beating but it is so irregular that the pumping action is ineffective to move blood. The AED will send a shock to temporarily stop the heart and allow it to restart, hopefully with a proper rhythm.
The nice thing is the machine does all the work; even someone with no medical training can use one. There is a picture showing where the pads go and once they are on, just press start and the AED will analyze the rhythm and tell the user if the rhythm detected is shockable or not. If it is, it will tell you to shock the patient. If not, continue with CPR since the machine will not help.
Can anyone confirm if an AED shock was actually administered to Kemoy? The machine won't shock (advise shock) unless needed. That EMS was not performing CPR as he was being taken away seemed like a positive sign.

While his post might sound crude, photos and especially video can be used to review what happened and determine where mistakes were made and procedures need to be changed. In a situation like that, people's memories can be very unreliable. It would be different is he was the only person there when someone collapsed and takes photos rather than helping but there was plenty of medical aid on the track. I am in the medical field and anytime something serious happens we always hold and after action review to determine what went well and where we can improve so that our response is better in the future.
Think of how the Kennedy assassination would be viewed if the Zapruder film did not exist? It answers nearly every question (and raises a few I'll admit).
I took no photos once I realized what was going on. What I said was that I just noticed this AM that I incidentally captured activity in the background of my photos of Tiernan and the field running down the backstretch.
