I believe someone stated that he was revived in the main thread. I'm not sure in what condition though.

In a positive note, when they wheeled him out, they were not doing CPR. The said he needed to be cardioverted ( shocked) . I suspect he has some undiagnosed heart arrhythmia or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. He is lucky that this happened during a meet where they had a defibrillator. If he collapsed during a training run, it could have been very bad

Maybe we can keep it to positive thoughts for Kemoy rather than an attack on Rojo. The Brojos are many things, but they have been sympathetic in similar situations in the past.

If he makes it out of the woods alright, I can promise you his life has now changed forever. Once this happens, he will be living with the burden of being susceptible to this striking again. They will have him begin a regimen of medications that can have brutal side effects in and of themselves(bipolar, depression...extreme anemia occurred for my family member), but are a necessary evil to prevent what is a potentially fatal evil.

Hoping and praying for the best. It’s difficult to accept this when it happens to you at such a young age, and being in such great shape. Hope that he has a wonderful support group.

All the races and sporting events I've been to, they had them on site.

And they likely had them on site there too. Acknowledging that this is a horrific event for all involved - give the people on site there a little break. The circumstances were unusual and track meets are a three ring circus to begin with - I would be surprised if they did not respond quickly considering the circumstances. I also expect that they would have stopped the race if that in any way was hindering him getting proper treatment. Hopefully this turns out to be just a very scary incident without long term consequences. However, it does seem silly to me for anyone to make any medical diagnosis based on tweets and what little video footage there was.

Can someone clarify what exactly happened? I wasn't able to watch the meet.

And for the posters asking if an EMS crew would be at a sporting event: yes they would. I've been working EMS for a little while, and companies *sometimes* get away with just a BLS crew for lower level competition, like high school games. But larger events, especially collegiate and professional, will have at least one paramedic on scene, if not two. A paramedic has the qualifications and training to properly perform cardioversion as necessary, which sounds like what happened.
