I don’t want to give away too much yet, people will see after the first week or two of the season, but there’s a runner who has historically been 3-5 for their team coming back this fall that will make an enormous leap. Dude has been running 100 mile weeks since mid July now and just did a time trial alone on a track of a 4:12 true mile for shits and gigs off summer base. I would at least give a school so people can look back on this, but I don’t wanna jinx the guy and have him get hurt before the season starts. All I’ll say is he goes to a MIAC school not in the twin cities or Northfield.
Incredible to think that every word of this post is a lie. I’m impressed

Carleton has four excellent runners returning. And that is basically it. It appears they have some solid FY runners coming in and there is a chance that Ronayne makes a huge leap forward, but relying on either of those might not get you the 5th you need. It isn't likely that we see another Wilkinson/Mueller, but anything is possible. Plus injuries are also a factor and lack of depth would bite you in the ass.
Olaf has Lerdahl, Kirtley, Anderson, Henshel and Berhe. The last 2 obviously have questions surrounding them. Then you also have Furich and Plumb right after, and also Kadrofske, Primozich and Jama right after that. I haven't even mentioned Lonergan! He could easily be up with the top Ole pack as well.
That depth is what would lead me and this other person to think at this point that Olaf > Carleton. I think anyway this season shakes out the battle for the conference title should be a little more even than it has been as of late.
Ha, you say Carleton might have trouble getting the 5th they need but then include Henschel and Berhe as two of Olaf's "solid" 5? It's 50/50 that either of those guys even runs in the MIAC XC meet this fall. Also, I wouldn't count on much from Longeran - he's more Eggers/Bjork than Escher/Campbell.
Is this the first year since 2010 that SJU doesnt get top 4? Without Tremayne, I think I will be.
1/2: Olaf/Carleton
3: UST
4-7: ??????

It was meant as runners that could potentially run up to Carleton's top 4, and I offer a sentence of explanation behind Henshel and Berhe, not hard to miss. You will notice that I named 11 known quantities behind Olaf and 4 for Carleton.
Eggers was a pretty solid cross guy, Bjork had a few moments. You just never know. A lot of Olaf 1500 guys ended up figuring out Cross eventually.
That said, if Carleton has a FY slot in and everyone fires on all cylinders, they will be TOUGH to beat. How about Mueller though, he won the 1k, 3k, Dmed indoors and the 5/10k outdoors. Should have won the 5k indoors too...damn.
Big news from Flotrack on their rankings this year. Meg mathison has left Carleton and transferred to Georgetown, how does his shake up things this fall in the MIAC?
Anyone think they can even get a 10% accurate top 10 individuals guess?
1-Amanda Mosborg (Carleton)
2-Samantha Schnirring (Carleton)
3-Anna Hage (Bethel)
4-Emma Greenlee (Carleton)
5-Sara Ness (St. Thomas)
6-Mary Naas (St. Olaf)
7-Jenny Launder (St. Thomas)
8-Bryony Hawgood (St. Olaf)
9-Fiona Casey (Carleton)
10-Ruthie Boyd (Carleton)
I wouldn't underestimate Bethel this year, there has been (1) darkhorse transfer and another rambo that is Fresh that is under everyone's radar.

Agreed. I think Bethel has a serious chance at winning MIAC this year
hello boys, your favorite atrocious video guy is back. made a little preseason video for the MIAC showcasing the top 10 returning XC athletes from last year's conference meet, the projected top 3 teams, & my picks for 5 dark horses. hope you get a kick out of it
The indevidials and teams were already stated on the thread, but interesting to see the dark horse picks. Not bad overall. Will this finally be the year that SJU doesn’t beat UST at conference? I noticed they only had one runner in that video as a potential dark horse
So any programs racing this weekend? I'd look up schedules - but this seems easier (plus I want to get this conversation going again)
I know a few MIAC schools are racing at the Crown College Invite on Saturday for a hilly/slow 5k. I've heard from St. Thomas and Gustavus they are going to hold out a few of there top runners in that meet. And I know Bethel is hosting a meet that will have some great competition for a fast flat 4 mile race tomorrow, St. Olaf will be there to put on a show. Concordia has the Cobber Invite that is also tomorrow, I don't know much about that one.
SPOTTED: Jerry Cook out for a jog in Northfield. GAMECHANGER.

Olaf is only running freshmen at the Bethel meet.
