The President is fighting a losing battle. The women have the "Trump" card in my book. They women can violate the NDA anyway. What are the repercussions if they do? They're not criminal. And it results in more negative publicity for the President if he sues them. So I think the info is going to get out. Even if they don't speak, we're all talking about the affairs because indirectly it's in the news now. A better course of action I think would be to just let them speak, but that's not in the President's wheelhouse. He holds grudges and is a fighter. We already know he cheats on his wife and isn't of high moral character so if they just talk about the affairs I think it's out of the news quickly.

I think the fact that he is paying people off is clear evidence that he fears blackmail.
1. You know something about me that I don't want to get out in public.
2. You could blackmail me with that.
3. To circumvent the blackmail, I will pay you off with an NDA.
Again, though I agree with many others that this illustrates his reprehensible character, the bigger deal to me is that it represents his susceptibility to blackmail in other dealings....
Again, like his shady business dealings with the Russian mafia
Blackmail is staying quite about something for money. Trump is just getting ahead of the game. He doesn't mind paying them to be quite so I wouldn't say he fears blackmail. He if anything is fine being blackmailed about the affairs.
Shady business dealings with Russians is something else all together and of much more interest. If the Russian knew the President did some shady stuff in Russia and essentially are like "toe the line with us or we'll expose it and you're finished" is much different than some porn star accepting his offer of money to not talk.
And if Trump ever gets under oath about these affairs he'd better watch out as he has trouble sticking to the truth and that got Clinton impeached. Looking back at the Clinton thing you can be impeached with a partisan vote. Much harder to be removed from office as it takes 2/3.
