"So what? Let me guess: everything you got in life, you got on your own terms. Your parents didn't pay for college, or your first car, or your computers, or give you a down payment on a home, or...
Most of the people on this board are either high school kids living off their parents (as they should) or college kids who are leeching money off their parents to pay for school, beer money, a new computer, a car, etc, etc, etc. Who are all of YOU to criticize Gabe?"
There is nothing wrong with receiving financial support from your parents. I don't think ttc was saying its bad. I think he was replying to what Cat Fancy wrote:
"What does Gabe Jennings do for a living? Whatever he wants. His life is devoid of the materialistic desires most of us have, so instead of spending his time working for his possessions, he does whatever the hell he wants. Doesn't sound too bad to me."
ttc is right. Gabe can only be free of working for money and possessions because his parents give him food and a place to live. If everyone tried to be like Gabe, our society would collapse. If Gabe's parents cut off the financial spiggots, so to speak, he would a) have to start working for money or b)become a beggar or c) stave to death (unless he can grow food or hunt animals.) Unfortunately, unless you are rich or you have a fincial supporter, you can't just do whatever the hell you want.
