What does Gabe Jennings do for living?

My parents were born in 1942, they don't identify themselves as "baby boomers", they're too old.

I do find this topic interesting though. If you're arguing that the cultural beliefs of our parents define us, I disagree. I'd say you and I are far more different because of the times we were raised in, as opposed to what either of our parents thought at the time.

When I was 10, we were in the grips of an oil crisis, Reagan had just taken over, was saber-ratting and building a 600 ship navy in order to win the cold war. Hell, we had nuke bomb drills at my school. Inflation sucked, unemployment was high, etc.

When you were 10, Clinton was taking over and ushering in an era of economic expansion and relative peace and prosperity. The cold war was over, and times were pretty darn good. I'd imagine your parents did very well during the mid'90's, something that's hard to say about the mid-80's, when all kinda weird stuff was going on.

Big events in my childhood? Elvis dies, I see Star Wars (in the theater), John Lennon is shot, the Challenger blows up, you weren't even alive for any of that, except the Challenger, and you'd have been three. I graduated from college when you were 11 years old.

Anyway, why would you want to identify yourself with Gen-x? It gets a bad rap from most people ("lazy")..

Also, in case you haven't figured it out, being a hippy is a front. They don't help the environment, they aren't totally radical against whatever establishment you think is monitoring your hydroponic car's movements, and they aren't deep. Put that in the bong your parents bought you and smoke it, man.

Ummm, aren't you generalizing quite a bit. I mean, it's obvious that I don't know Gabe personally and I'm not the authority on his lifestyle, but saying that ALL hippies aren't deep, don't help the environment, blah blah blah...can't be correct. I would say it's a front for some, even the majority, but I'm sure many are not merely putting up fronts. Oh, and btw, why do so many people make reference to my user name "redmeansdead" by saying things like, "given your name, I'm surprised you feel that way". What do you people think redmeansdead means?
