But on the matter at hand, i think you are completely right. Robby got himself in a tough spot and took a risk to get by on the inside and basically caused himself to have to run on the inside of the lane. Bummer but i think they got it right by giving him a DQ.
So we've been exchanging texts with Alan Webb - the American record holder in the mile this evening. Webb trained with Andrews for a year or so.
He wanted video of the final 100 so we sent it to him. Here is what Webb said after watching it.
"His chest is past Mekonnen therefore completing the pass before Mekonnen looks over and forces Robby off the track.
"He does not 'pass' off the track per the ruling. He is forced off after the pass."
What would the prelim rounds be w/o endless DQ and free-ride disputes?
The photos confirm what Webb says. Andrews had pulled even or slightly ahead and his legs had room on the track. Then he was off the track.
The streaming never showed a good look. The head on came too late. NBC probably has the head on footage but will they show it and when.

Please, someone set me straight on this.
I have not watched a replay yet, so I don't know if there was contact. But based on the photo above, he went off on the straight-away...which the rules say is not an advantage and not DQ-able, right? So why was Robby DQ'ed?
Because the rules say you can't go off the track even on the straightaway to gain a material advantage, and gives the specific example of being boxed in as being applicable.

Overhead footage was on the NBC web feed just after the men's 200m final - clearly shows Robby getting elbowed a few times before he steps out. I can't get to it because now all it shows is volleyball, but they'll eventually post the footage here:

Gonna be a re-run of the keirin cycling fiasco where the "British Cycling video" coincidentally was the crux of unDQ-ing the Brit culprit.

You must have missed the post that Vig made asking for photos and video. I guess maybe he wasn't able to find the footage otherwise.

From the images I think it's pretty clear Andrews was forced out and was already past the Ethiopian. Andrews should be reinstated for the final.
I hope you're doing everything you can to raise awareness of this with the appropriate authorities.

Andrew's was definitely past by the time he got knocked off the track. Looking at replay it's clear that there was contact but it looked like it was their legs tangling a little not elbows. There is definitely a case here

They didn't even show the other heat. They show all 3 women's 800m heats, but only 1 1500 heat?!

I missed it, did they throw in any other alternate angles?
