You are correct. I should not have written illegal performance enhancement. I should have written performance enhancement in violation of the rules of the sport. The point is that there may be legal issues but they are not necessarily the same issue that USADA is investigating.

There is no such thing as "illegal performance enhancement." The drug doesn't have to be proven to enhance performance. Go read the WADA rules and understand why a drug use ban can be given for drug use without proven performance enhancement: spirit of sport, detrimental to health.
It did not amount to much. AlSal had contemporaneous correspondence to address it and we never heard back from Magness and Goucher. Other US runners: used testoboost and have TUEs too.This is not to say they are clean. The testosterone test hard to understand.

The circumstances that enabled USADA to deliver a recommendation aren't there any more. You had Pound as head of WADA and a vocal critic of sports federation corruption on one side, on the other side, an international sports federation that didn't mind their own rules, as well as athletes that understood it was a free for all.
Reedie is smoothing things out for Russia as if it was all a big misunderstanding. There's no way he's going to allow a Nike-related controversy to blow up.

Testoboost is not a banned substance by WADA. It probably has about as much effectiveness as the magical underwear that Mormons wear.

I actually have a good friend who's other family friend completed in those 72 Trials and according to him there was very little 'Testing' going on much less a guy floating around after races taking blood and asking you to pee into a cup - this total BS! There may have been some sampling testing done a few weeks before but nothing thorough, regimented or systematic in anyway. I'm not suggesting he was on drugs either - no way! Pre may have smoked the occasional joint or eaten the odd brownie while in college but he was not ever "a doper". What this is though, is a subtle reference to keep the feel good 'Pre Myth' going as a counter to the Drug abuse that is going on currently! If you can instill in the minds of fans and others that this is still a pure sport - you can keep the money roll'in in. Pre (and his story) is the "Poster-Boy' for that agenda.
