Maybe Meb doesn't like Galen, or maybe he doesn't like Galen upstaging him in his debut, but what makes you think Galen doesn't like Meb? I've never sensed that before or heard him having anything less than total respect for Meb. He might like Meb a little less NOW! That was pretty rude on Mebs part and completely crappy for Rupp. But Rupp didn't look angry, more like, WTF?!

Meb, and his anti women equality Eritrean values makes me sick. He should have kept his big mouth shut.

Meb is a media hog and does not like getting upstaged. I find him and his antics very disingenuous. I use like him but when he never credited Ryan Hall with his win and wanted it to be all about him. He has to tell you insincerely all about himself and go on on on that it frankly is off putting.

Rupp handle himself with with professionalism. Men seemed like a sore loser media hog.

Funny looking at those pics Tyler Pennel was pretty close to Meb and Meb finding throw him any shade.

I think he got pissed because he knew Rupp was going to pass him and would have nothing left to answer that pass so he got frustrated and acted rude.

All I saw watching the race was Meb pointing at the ground right before they got to an aid station. After they got through the aid station, Rupp took a swig of his fluids, took a glance at Meb, and then just left him like it was nothing. Probably best not to poke the bear if you want to have any chance of winning.

Galen's done his fair share of shooting looks at competitors who make contact with him during a race, so let's just call it even. Meb's coach wasn't stomping around after the race demanding a DQ either, so all is good.

This sounds about right to me. I like both Meb and Rupp. Congrats to both. Rupp was simply amazing. Nuff said.

Comparing Meb at the age of 40 and Rupp in his Prime is like Comparing Kobe to Mj at his prime. MEB = BIGTIME. it was clear Rupp was a beach and drafting

I just watch them run and root for both. I clicked on this thread because i thought I saw Rupp give Meb a thumbs up on his way to the finish. That did not match up with the title of this thread but this seems like the same group that analyzes all Rupp post race handshakes.

Exactly. Only LetsRun distance running fans can turn every gesture or look during a race into something worthy of a Telemundo soap opera. In every other sport people recognize that in the middle of competition sometimes the competitive juices boil over just a touch. On LetsRun it's a definitive sign of someone's worth as a person.

In his opening statement Rupp congratulated Meb and Ward. This whole "incident" should be a "non-incident".

That was a clever move by Rupp. Meb just gets done bashing him and Rupp congratulates him. It's called being the better man.

I like Meb - and if he could have a press conference "do over" I think he would have just said something like "Galen and I were having a fun time mixing it up" and just leave it at that.

I watched the relevant race portion - and must say that Meb's reaction seemed disproportional. Now maybe it was a culmination of "micro-aggressions" over many miles that led to that reaction? I doubt it as they were not even near each other for most of the first 10-15 miles. However, when we are in the 22nd mile and insanely hot and tired, none of us think too clearly.

BTW - I'd pick Ward to take them both down, simultaneously, in an Ultimate Fighter competition...

Oh gee, a ridiculously competitive person gets chippy in he heat of a race with another equally ridiculously competitive person. People are shocked by that?
