Even if she were to make the team and then get injured in her prep for Rio, I don't see her giving up her spot. She'd go to the Olympics and drop out rather than give up the opportunity to be an Olympian again.

Desi went to London in 2012 and was not healthy. She knew she had a stress fracture but still went and DNF'd. You can't get mad that Kara might have this happen unless you were angry Desi did it 4 years ago.

If Kara makes the team, she'll do whatever it takes to be on that starting line healthy and competitive, just like any other Olympic athlete.

I disagree to an extent. I understand not taking a risk and blowing up and just getting to the next round (Rio), but there is money at stake and winning the Olympic Marathon Trials provides a running resume boost.

I agree. If Linden wins it will show a trend. Shalane lost to her in Boston when she claimed she was in the best shape of her life and going for the win. Linden is younger and a win will show that Boston was not a fluke.
