No she has never said she had a PR of 1:57. Some idiot claims she did. That is the point.

Why are you so upset over a misunderstanding over 0.3 seconds in an 800m time? You scream about this but fail to address the posters point that Phe800 has gone backwards and not come back in 5 years.

Very good blog but made me want to quit the sport. I am 13 and thought I would get faster over the next 5 years if I work my tail off and maybe make an NCAA team but this blog made me depressed and sad :(

Rungrade8, I think that is the wrong lesson to learn from Pheobe's story. Pheobe improved an incredible amount over the first 8 years of her career, going from mediocre in high school and worst on her college team to one of the best runners in the country and 5 time national champion. It was only when she became a professional that she eventually struggled for a few years, as a result of overtraining. But she figured out the problem and dealt with it and now she's back on the upswing. I think the lesson to learn from that is how much it's possible to improve with hard work! But to be careful of overtraining when you transition to being a professional runner.

Truly enjoyed the blog, Phoebe comes across as a bright, insightful and pragmatic athlete. Phoebe is in that group with Erica Moore, Anna Pierce, Latavia Thomas, Maggie Vessy and Geena Gall, etc., who came on the pro scene roughly 2009/10/11. These ladies quickly reached that sub-2 world class stage, but could not hold on to that level for more than 2-3 seasons and then mysteriously digressed. I know that nobody keeps getting better, but to go from running the DL circuit to not being able to break 2 minutes in what should be the prime of your career is strange.

if you are really in 8th grade, you'll learn many hard lessons either from someone else's failure or your own failure. That doesn't mean it's bad to try or to fail.

Phoebe clearly is aiming to get into Daniel Craig's (perfectly tailored) pants. Maybe that could somehow be the key for her getting to 1:57 or even beyond.

I thought she was really cool at first but I don't really care for her all that much, though from time to time she does rather atypical Nike type things that help her image in my eyes. But of all the pros that I've met, she seems to be the least pleasant by a long way. She had just run poorly a hour or so before I asked for her John Hancock but even then she didn't speak to me at all when I asked for the autograph or said thank you. She just kind of went through the motions, literally. For someone that's all over social media, that seems pretty crappy. Not that I interact with pros more than even a few times a year, but I can remember positive and friendly interaction with most of them.
