I once shared a significant intimate moment with Alberto when he was in Australia, he came over in the late eighties/early nineties to check out the Australian Institute of Sport. I ran with him for a short time and we stopped for a piss together in the Stromlo Forest. I'm not sure what the significance of that is but he's definitely coming across as shady. Time will tell I guess.

I don't think I've ever had a drink with John in Ithaca. Maybe once. He did meet his ex-wife on LetsRun and we wrote a story on them so there is a chance I had a drink with him then, but I don't remember doing it.

I think it was the summer of 2008 that John first told me his story. His story has never changed. I encouraged him to go on the record and/or report it to the authorities. I told him while suspicious it wasn't proof of anything on its own.

Your argument about Alberto is based on his contribution to the sport of running. You cite the "power of prayer," as Alberto's great comfort, and the insecurity of an investigative journalist (who helped bring down A-Rod and Lance Armstrong) alongside everyone else in the media who has defamed Alberto as motivation for such behavior.

Either you're a troll, or your cerebrum recently suffered severe damage; God is dead, and in a month's time, Alberto will be out of a job.

Interesting. On a related note, when did you first hear about the Magness photo of the "prednisone and testosterone medication" page in Rupp's file? I ask because I think it speaks to how likely It is that Mo knew about that photo prior to The broadcast of the BBC documentary and the publication of the Epstein article. I.e. If you knew about the photo long before the broadcast, Mo probably did too. If not, then unclear.

Ok, can we clarify a few things

- "Blood doping" is the practice of increasing RBC content of the blood, in order to increase the blood's oxygen carrying capacity

- The "rich platelet" therapy that Teg said he took does not increase RBC content of anything

- So it is not blood doping. For convenience we might call this therapy "blood spinning"

- The stated goal of the therapy is to speed healing (recovery, if you like) in the area where the platelets are injected

- We are not sure if it actually works. Maybe

- We are not sure if there could be any systemic healing effect outside of the local injection area. Maybe

- It does not appear to involve adding performance enhancing substances to the blood. Certainly it creates an opportunity for those so inclined.

- Regardless, faster healing does not directly improve fitness. Faster healing allows more training per unit time

- Meaning he still has to train in order to gain better fitness and achieve better race performances

- For these reasons the practice is not blood doping, nor is it very similar to blood doping

- Right now it is a legal practice

I remember reading and article in the Boulder Daily Camera when Kara Goucher was a senior at UC (just before or after she won the NCAA XC). In the article, there was a reference to a procedure she underwent to overcome iron deficiency (if I recall correctly). The essence of the procedure sounds a lot like this platelet therapy. I remember thinking to myself (with my non-scientific brain), "That sounds a lot like blood doping."

It seemed too coincidental that she had this blood therapy and then kicked some ass.

Can anybody come up with that article?

Okay everyone, I registered this username so you know it's me. Not a troll, but some have posted as me so I felt the need to register a username. And no, I don't know A Duck.

I wouldn't expect you outsiders to understand the power of Oregon, the power of Historic Hayward Field, the birthplace of Nike, the home of more great runners than any other university, Pre's rock, etc. But I do -- and I have firsthand experience with all of these phenomena. And I can tell you that Alberto cares deeply about the mystique of it all -- so much so that he would never, under any circumstances, do anything that might hurt Oregon's sterling reputation when it comes to clean sport and playing by the rules.

Alberto is a God-fearing man and frankly, I think that should be enough.

If you doubt Alberto, shame on you.

Goucher was there for 7 years (said she saw Salazar like a father - yeah, definitely not part of the "inner core"?!) and Fleshman actually claims she DID act unethically and use Rx drugs beyond what she believed to be medically necessary (actually she didn't claim she did that but rather claims Salazar advised her to and she did, but then stopped - so she did in fact engage in the unethical behavior she calls out Salazar for).

Don't see how PRP could help with anemia. I believe a lot of the controversy that surrounds it relates to its being used in conjunction with HGH in some cases. See
