Mo Farah trained with Driouch in Ethiopia (UPDATED, title changed)

While nowhere near the whole C. Jeter / M. Block deal a few years ago, it's leaving me with a similar queasy and disappointed feeling.

Sorry, but blatant attempts by Mo's minions to squash that fact Mo trained with a doper will all fail.

Why this matters, again, is that Hamza Driouch at 17 had run 2:17 1k, 3:33 1500m, and 3:50.9 mile, leading the third lap at Oslo, and won World Juniors (under 20) in 3:39 with a 52.7 3rd lap! He was the future of middle distance running for the next ten years or more. His lack of performances since 2012 had placed it in doubt already, but what this has done is essentially to preemptively re-write the history books for the next decade in middle distance running. Had he been clean, this would likely have been dominated by him as much as El G dominated from late 1996 through 2004. In those pictures at the track with Mo, his physique bears an uncanny resemblance to Jim Ryun. A real shame that he would do this.

Stop the Political Correctness you disingenuous a-s-s-clown. Several of us had stated many times that good ol' Mo would train in E. Africa and other locations in order to avoid off-season spot drug tests while "loading up". Face facts. While the Africans have a lot of talent, not a few of them cheat. And they consciously make that decision. So many of you go on with this bunk that has the Africans behaving like innocent children "tricked" into using drugs or unscrupulous agents and coaches being the only ones to blame. The doctors, coaches, agents, and athletes are all to blame. Mo is no more clean Driouch. He's just higher profile and it's PC to protect an athlete like him, whereas the only thing worse than Arab to many of the powers that be is a white male. lol When the sport collapses from this crap the aware folks will not enjoy the rueful laughs.

If indeed it is Simms who made the statement and not Mo, that changes things (somewhat). Without your above post, I would say Mo is in big trouble...there is not way you can convince anyone that Mo is unknowingly training with the hottest young runner on the planet. I am a Mo fan and did not suspect his success was due to anything but AlSal, but if Mo (not Simms) is stating he didn't know he was training with Driouch, I am, officially on the suspicion bandwagon. Mo needs to make a statement soon (real soon), right now he is losing PR capital by the hour.

ok, say you're Mo. You have to do a workout at a given time and there is only one track.

Do you memorize all dopers by face, or hire someone to keep a 'most wanted' type of record of dopers, and if a doper shows up, you walk off the track?

Serious question - is that what you 'training with a doper means you are a doper' people expect Mo and others to do?

Because Mo's instant response is to deny. This is the real Mo you are seeing. This is a trait learned long ago. As someone else noted: Mo's wife should keep a close eye on him. What Mo says he did isn't what he actually does.

I think it is unreasonable to have to screen out people at workouts, in this sort of situation in Africa.

I mean, if Lagat did a workout with Trafeh in San Diego, that is one thing. In these semi chaotic group workouts in Africa...probably not everyone knows everyone's history.

and someone help with the timing - if we only knew about the suspension now, how was mo supposed to know about it when he was doing those laps?

I haven't read the thread carefully so forgive me if there is some easy solution to that.

Running on a track, and eating meals are not banned practices. People are reacting like Mo posted a picture of the two sharing a drip on Facebook.

I assume this one was lifted from an earlier posting by mo, or perhaps from abdi's account (i don't use twitter) but it was posted by vinny mulvey on ben bloom's twitter post about mo.

fyi, bloom may have adjusted the print story, but his twitter post remains with the statement that "mo denies....training with...." interesting, to say the least.

to me, the above pic is the single best proof that mo knows exactly who is "in" his group, who he's training with, etc. You don't just let someone ride around in your car that you don't know. you *might* end up on the same track together, you *might* end up bumping into another group at the cafe (I imagine that ethiopia is not like the US with an internet cafe on every corner) after workout/practice, but you probably would NOT be letting some random person into your car and driving them around unless they were a good friend or straight up part of your group of workout buddies. I'm not certain that Mo is doped, but like many others have said, this does NOT look good. time for him to issue a statement and cut some ties and stay a bit more vigilant with who he works out with.
