According to IAAF's website, Ryan Hall was the only non-African to ever run under 60:00 for a half-marathon on a record-eligible course (Dathan Ritzenhein having run 60:00 exactly). I hope that Marugame race is record-eligible, so that Zane can now join him. Bravo, Zane!

Marlson Gomes Dos Santos (59:33) and Fabián Roncero (59:52)
Thanks for the correction, Gotta Have It! I didn't see Marilson Dos Santos or Fabian Roncero the first time I looked through the list. Even with those editions, it's still a pretty small and elite group!
Both turned out to be very good marathoners too, especially Dos Santos. I'm excited to see what Zane could do.

if this guy were African, I'd be highly suspicious about this result, so, as a proud Kiwi, I'm still highly suspicious.
Zane broke Aussie Darren Wilson's Half marathon record. Darren ran 60.03 give or take a couple of seconds and apparently ran the wrong way and had to double back. Not sure how much time he lost. Unfortunately, Darren never reached his potential on the track or marathon for one reason or another.
He was a freak. I remember him seeing him with an interschool 3000 m cross country when he was u/13. he won by about 300 m .
