http://asklaurenfleshman.com/2014/05/why-a-convicted-doper-as-the-usa-team-coach-is-a-bad-idea/"So here is what honoring coach Mitchell as head coach does to Team USA. It sends a global message that USATF is willing to overlook a cheaters past and give them the highest honor in our sport. It shows that they are no longer following their Zero Tolerance policy. It shows that Team USA is soft on drugs. That we don’t take doping seriously. Frankly it’s something I’d expect from Turkey or Russia or the USA of the 80′s, but not the USATF of the past 8 years. It’s like putting someone who has formerly served time for fraud in charge of your bank. Or a convicted child abuser in charge of your day care. Even if Dennis Mitchell has paid the price for his actions in the past, there is simply no place for him as a national team coach. He effects the reputation of every single clean athlete he is associated with. He casts a shadow on USATF as a whole. I wish him a fantastic life, but I don’t want him or his wife involved in my sport in any position of influence or leadership.
Max, since you seem to have executive power on most everything, please draw the line. You need to be the strictest of all when it comes to zero tolerance of doping, or you screw us all."
Since LetsRun decided to delete my other post about miss Fleshman, I'll write it again.
She's a self promoter that no one gives a crap about. She's not relevant or talented. She needs to just shut up and go away. She, and LetsRun make it easier to pass over these issues. Find people that matter, you don't.
Vowels are more important than doping.
Lauren Fleshman writes her opinion on her own personal blog, wejo posts it to LetsRun, and a bunch of whiners slam Lauren and tell her to "get off the boards"? When was she ever on the boards to begin with?
You guys realize part of her job is having a significant presence in social media, right?

Actually no. I knew difference in fifth grade. She is illiterate. To not know difference. She attended a nice enough school to be accepted into Stanford. Then 4 years at top 3 school in the world. How many papers did she write and not know difference between "affect" and "effect" is mind-blowing. Was she just given a degree like many college football players? Really shocking.

Effect and affect - she has no clue - pathetic
wait, so this means that if you, sally, make a grammatical error then we can completely dismiss your argument?! I'm in! This is most welcome news.
Why would she out herself? Their is no reason she should.

Agip - she made many errors. Do you not agree that a Stanford grad who does not know difference between affect and effect does not deserve her or his degree?

of course I disagree. I have a pretty good education and I care a lot about grammar but I still make errors. Doesn't mean I should have failed out of college and grad school and doesn't mean what I say should be dismissed because of those errors.
Gesu cristo why am I responding to you?

Her degree is a fraud. My seven-year-old son knows the difference. How could you NOT know the difference? I was reading 10 books a week in colllege.

whoops! 'college' only has 2 'l's - now your argument is officially discredited. Bye.

One who is educated does not misuse effect for affect. It is like misspelling "impostor.". You don't do it.

With three NCAA 5000-meter championships and two USA ones in the 5000, she's "proven herself as a runner."
This message board is the only place she's hated. It's the only place Kara is hated. It's the only place a lot of people are hated. Wonder what all of that indicates.
As for USATF, you can never criticize them enough. They're all about cronyism, nothing else, and they care about middle distance and distance running not one bit.
Hey Lauren

"Lauren Fleshman arrived at the start of the New York City Marathon in November as a human billboard, wearing temporary tattoos that advertised an energy-bar company she founded with her husband.
Race officials intervened, telling Fleshman the tattoos violated marketing rules set forth by track and field’s world governing body. Hastily, the tattoos were rubbed off with alcohol pads. But she had made a point.
“It’s crazy you don’t own your own skin,” Fleshman, of Eugene, Ore., said after the race.

Makes sense to have a team of dopers managed by one
Stop whining about the person delivering the message. She's right. Period. Besides, you'd all be making noises like scalded dogs if Regina Jacobs had been appointed as a coach.
exactly Looby. Lauren= full respect by me. No one else has ever dominated Shalane Flanagan like she did when she was healthy. She was the ultimate big race competitor.
