A team from the Chicagoland south suburbs called the Bloom Track Club ran 273 miles in the summer of 1974 at the Glenbard West track. The team had a mix of Bloom high school runners and local college runners: John Capriotti, Jeff Small, Rusty and Terry Bauer, Bob Moffett, Greg Galen, Charlie White, Duncan Mchugh, Pete Farwell, Doc Holloway. This was the Illinois record at the time, and the team consisted of 4 high school runners.
Our team of all HS runners did 259M in that race. As I recall, it was the hottest July 2 ever that afternoon. We might hold claim to the Illinois HS 24 hour record. No seniors on our team, either!
