I was ten plus years before you guys. As I said, I did the work because I loved to run but it also got results. My high school 880 was 2:35. But I loved to race more so after I reached 30, I did. I think I ran 7 marathons in one year and 6 the next. Some were all out and some were just part of training. I know I ran three marathons in 9 weeks with 2 being in 16 days and all being within 30 seconds within each other and near my all-time best time. I guess it was all hard work but I thought it was a challenge and great fun.
Looking back I now think that I was what many on this message board call a hobby jogger.
I now think that racers should be very cautious to how often they race marathons and that even running a marathon after age 50 is a mistake. It can damage the heart!
