Right, I was wondering if that was 3:53/1500m high school or 3:53 mile professional. That definitely makes it NOT a high school mile race.

Cheserek ran 4:03 to give st. benedicts the win at the loucks games dmr. I think he's definitely going sub 4 at the dream mile

I dunno, 4:03 on a split tells me it's anybody's race and Arroyo and Montoya have shown they've got wheels to burn that last 300. If it comes down to the last lap, I'm not saying Cheserek won't be in it, but I think one of those guys has got it. And upon further consideration, I think Cheserek might take Saarel. McGorty will probably take Saarel as well.

Perhaps Cheserek will take third in 3:59.8, McGorty 4th in 4:00.4 and Saarel back in 5th or 6th. I think it'll be a very competitive race and if they go out smart, right at 1:59/2:00, I really think this could be one of the best mile fields assembled for a very long time. Really excited to see the race.

James Randon ran a solo 8:20 3k yesterday to win by 39 seconds. With that and his 3:49 1500, I think he's ready to be at least top 5

Has Burcham done anything notable this season? I saw his sub-9 at Arcadia, but other than that, I haven't seen any big runs from him so far. Any other possible suspects who could qualify? Ben Malone? Jacob Thomson?

I think the real excitement will be seeing: 1) If the other guys can take the kick out of Bernie and Andres in the first 1000 and 2) If it comes down to a kick, who's got the wheels. Bernie has been known for his kick, but Andres has been blazing fast this year and will definitely make him work for it.

Great to see all the HS Mile talk - looking forward to the race and we could see history, and regardless of the outcome, the Mile wins!

Malone beat cheserek yesterday. Relatively slow times, but malone closed in something like 1:57 with a 56 second last lap. 4:09 to 4:11.

What is Malone's 800 time? Cuz Ches has run 1:49

I hope Arroyo takes it out hard and guts out a win.

Malone ran 1:49.94 indoors last year. I believe he hasn't PR'ed since, but its hard to believe he can't run faster as a senior outdoors. Still, I don't know if he has the strength or the race savvy to pull off the win.

I think if they are gutsy and hold a hard pace, Ches will get the win on strength... but if these boys start to slow after being pulled out so quickly, and its a kicker race... probably Arroyo.

The pacer is taking it out in 1:57. If they hit that split with the pacer, I think they will slow to 2:59 with a lap to go. Then the winner will kick it home in about 56-57, but I bet that the winner will go through in 3:00-3:01 with a lap to go. So the finishing time would be 3:56-3:58. That said, I'm guessing Montoya will run the smartest race and outkick Arroyo and everyone else to win in 3:57.

At Swarthmore last evening, Ben Malone ran 3:46.97, the USA #1 time. He finished behind his future teammate, frosh redshirt Josh Lampron who ran 3:46.09.

This race is going to be sickkkk.

He seems pretty confident of breaking 4 but not sure he can close with Arroyo. Hopefully all these guys are still in it with 400 to go.
