I cannot believe you would make a such a stupid statement. Whoever "he" is, I am fairly sure you are wrong. Did it ever occur to you that some people come on here and state their opinions and that some people have similiar opinions to whoever you "think" it is? He didn't say anything wrong and stated what he believes are facts. Disagree and move on. Jenkins didn't post anything more prolific than his post so what's your beef? The moderators can check my IP and they will see that I'm not him, but this much is certain, you are probably 20 years old, you need to get a life, and soon!

Warranted talk about who will make the team aside, what interests me is whether we will see a new age of US marathon performances, or if this will play out to be the same old same old (a few between 2:10 and 2:13, and masses between 2:15 and 2:20).

If there was ever a time to feel like US marathoning was on the cusp of revolution, it is now.

All this talk about 'no way no how will we have 15 guys between 2:09 and 2:12'. IMO, if we can't produce merely 15 guys between those numbers then it is a Fu*^@ shame.

I'm believing in a potential revolution. And even though I may be disappointed post race, I feel that we are a world ahead of where we were 4 years ago on the marathon stage. Hasn't happened yet, but just feels like it is about to.

Please list the 15 runners are who will be between 2:09-2:12. You're not being realistic friend, although your intentions are admirable, it's just not a likely scenario based on pre-race pr's. I would like 20 guys under 2:10, but it's not being realistic at all. I am happy that we have Hall and Ritz who both have huge potential and in a big race the results can be "On any given Sunday", because they have the potential and Hall has already proven it. And yes, it's a Fu*^@ shame, but don't take it personally:)

Oh I don't take it personally. I am being hopeful, which I am usually not when it comes to US distance running. While it certainly isn't likely that 10, 12, 15 guys will run between 2:09 and 2:12, this year's odds are better than they've been in a while. And i agree, based upon recent history I am not being realistic. Call me a dreamer. With good weather, low levels of wind, it being the Olympic Trials, and seemingly a general performance surge at the distance in recent months, I'm more hopeful than I've ever been to see something big by the masses on Saturday.

As for the top three, I am calling Hall, Cabada, and Gotcher. In that order. Dathan is quite a talent. I believe that his injuries and time away, along with his absence from the elite marathon scene since the '08 Trials/Games will prevent him from following through past 20 miles.

Not that predictions mean a damn thing, but Cabada has run 2:12 already, and if the general public believes him to be the 15th pick going in (which I disagree with) then there is at the very least a small chance for 15 guys to run sub 2:12.

Sorry, but Ritzenhein is in great shape and honestly, I am in the know. Dathan just has to be patient and stay in top 3 or close for 20 miles. Believe me, he's been doing long runs and is ready for Saturday so don't expect him to zonk out at 20 but do expect him in the top 3 when the race is over. I agree with Hall but the other 2 are questionable, but I'd take Gotcher first since he has actually ran that fast before.

Who is eating crow now? Nick whips Morgan and that's that. I said I'd come back right or wrong and I kept my word. 2:11 plus to a 2:14 plus.

Mike Morgan is NOT a 2:11 marathoner, as already stated...repeatedly. He had great weather, a great field and could not beat Nick.

As for Ritz, I was wrong as I picked him 3rd and he got 4th. Oh well, he's still young.

And by the way, I still want to know D2, who am I? That's what I thought.

p.s. Yes, I hear there was a little wind, so I was wrong there too as I wasn't aware of it. But, 15 guys did not run 2:12 flat or faster. Now rip away on me!

Next Generation may not have gotten the numbers exactly spot on, but their premonition of a revolution was spot on. Revolution indeed.
