How does Fayeteville-Manlius do it?

Big difference between qualifying for NXN as FM has done five times on boys side and dominating as their girls have done. Other than their win in 2005, the Satatoga boys haven't qualified at all. How is that dominance?

York has qualified all seven years, the only team to do so, and has won and finished second twice. That's a better result than FM. The Woodlands has qualified in six of seven years and has been in the top five three times and the top 10 another time.

The NY boys performances at NXN are only a faint reflection of what the NY girls have achieved.

Which brings us back to question of why the NY girls have been so totally dominant while the NY boys are about as good as teams from a number of other states.

confused person - boys aerobic development window is from 13 to 17 years old, while girls aerobic development window is from 12 to 14.

So therefore, the rules allowing middle schoolgirls to run on FMs team is the reason for the dominance.

And what is your reasoning behind york or the woodlands being so darn good on the boys side? Likely the coaching. Or more importantly the culture. The same in kenya. Culture and living in a way that hasnt been duplicated and really cannot on a large scale..in the US at least,

When the US flies off to world xc champs and the kenyans and ethiopians dominate in such a way as fm does at nxn, the excuses are altitude and talent. Sure altitude is huge! But we have high altitude in the US. Only talent then? Drugs only? Try culture. Create that and you reach a new level.

And maybe you should find a way to get your 7/8 graders to train. Cang coach them? Be creative. The rest of the nation is. Saugus and arcadia dont run over the summer? Dont have younger brothers and sisters? Cant encourage them? Fools. Nobody cares. The us can griipe about altitude and drugs but in the end their complaints are moot. Kenya still dominates. End of story.

Who cares if they have 7th or 8th? Any coach who really wants to see his team progress will set up feeder schools and feeder programs. You think those top HS programs that start in 9th grade just happen to have some studs show up? No, they already have kids in the JH system with their own training programs that they give to whichever parent is coaching JH XC that year.

To be honest, I find "smack talk" re girls' HS cross country more than a little creepy--particularly when I realize that it's not the girls themselves, nor their coaches, who are making the posts.

Somebody else--presumably not actually part of the programs under discussion--seems to have a real emotional "investment" in these teams. I do trust/hope that the teams are not actually as important in your life as you make them appear...

There are a few coaches around my area that have youth programs and about half those kids end up going to their school in 9th grade. They are some of the top age groupers in the country. They are ready to contribute as a freshman to really good teams. Do we cry about it? No, we follow the rules and do as much as we can.

The FM coaches may have a contrary response to the following statement but, I've spoken to 6 D1 coaches

in the last 2 months (5 have M and/or W teams in the top 25) and all 6 that I casually spoke to said they are

skeptical of the FM coaching and athletes. Phrases like

"tapped out", "over trained", "over coached" came up over and over. Just saying. Can these kids plug into a collegiate program? or are they already "programmed"?

I don't know the staff at FM. Tell me more about them.

I casually spoke to 7 D1 coaches over the last 2 days and they casually told me that blue chip guru is a bullsh..ter!

Fm girls score 15 points on Saratoga, US#3 at the NYS Champs. Jillian Fanning wins in 18:53 on terribly muddy day. By 40 seconds. FM boys win also, in a nailbiter over Rush Hen. Fifth guy was back. Normally their third.

This FM giels performance was the most impressive Ive ever witnessed.

I know some people might have thought they were now vulnerable. Sorry folks. This is the best FM team yet.

Performances like this is why I asked the question. I've never heard of such dominance.

I read about FM on here all the time and I've heard the "blah blah team spirit, motivation, etc," and that's all well and good, but one thing I have not seen is a REAL workout schedule. So here's what I want from the FM fanboys (or girls): A typical two-week block of training during the summer, early season, and late season. So July, September, October. Pep talks don't turn 18:00 kids into 16:00 kids, training does. Maybe you need to have the pep talk to do the training, but you can't rah-rah your way to a dynasty.

Exactly. There are many hard-working individuals/teams across the country with just as much drive for state and national titles as FM boys and girls. Something is going on there. Bill has advised people to read as much as they can on training, so I'm sure it is out there. No one is saying it's secret workouts. I just want to know how they put everything together.

I believe only one of them is in 8th. Smith is definitely in 9th. Somehow the grades were entered incorrectly for sectionals and have now carried over to state.

From what I have heard, from someone close to the program. It is alot of hard running at high levels.
