Lukas will win Wisconsin. Lukas will win NCAAs. Lukas has never lost a xc meet. Lukas always wins. Wait and see. He never loses.

If only there were a more objective way to evaluate performances. Then we'd see exactly how hew stacked up against his predecessors when he was going for time. I guess we'll never know.

If it happens I won't be blown away. People are talking about guys with slower mile/3k prs to be up there. That's my point.

Defending my statement about Wisco needing to win, this is basically a preview of nationals even though Ok. St. won’t be there. This is NCAA Pre-Nats instead of it being called the Wisco Adidas XC Invite. Compared to Wisco hosting this meet in the past, arguably this is the most stacked race ever for a regular season meet. I know Wisco only cares about 3 titles (B-10s, Regional even though I feel like they’re just looking to qualify and not care too much about the Regional title race with Indiana but who knows, and most importantly NATIONALS), but this meet being as big of a meet as possible and arguably being the most competitive regular season race ever, if I were the boys at Wisco I would:

-run everyone just to see how they stack up against what will be their competition at nationals and learn from any mistakes that might be made in order to be well prepared for the big dance.

-when it comes to resting or sitting out a guy or two, do so at Regional (I figure they’ll at least want to beat out Indiana for the B-10 title and only look to qualify for nationals at Regional since both Wisco and Indiana without a doubt will crush the field unless one or both teams choke). No other team is going to challenge Wisco and Indiana at Regional for the auto spots.

Here are my predictions: I strongly believe Wisco needs to put their full squad in this race. I know they haven’t in the past, but this meet is way too big to pass up by putting in some “B” runners. Wisco for the win if they put in their full squad; if not then either Stanford or IU (IU wins only if Bayer runs). Too hard to tell individually who’ll win, so my guess is Chris Derrick.

Don't forget Texas. They have Lutz now and with Dohner that is a good 1-2 I say they beat Oregon for 3rd.

I am pretty sure the top guys will go in this race unless there is an injury issue. Last year they did much of the work at the front and got beaten at the finish by Indiana; this year the field is so deep that there will be a big mix at the front, which probably will not string out that much except if Lalang goes hard and some decide to chase (which would help make the field more stretched-out and easier to maneuver in.

Top 15 is pretty tough for all 5 in this field (means only ten other guys and you have Lalang for sure, with Oregon's two, Stanford, Indiana, Batty and his BYU teammates, NCState...

William and Mary will place in the top 5. Mark my words.

Is there anything more fashionable amongst the "big-time" coaches than to say they're preparing for the "next meet"? It is no wonder out Olympians and World Championship team members just squander away their races with little or no effort and minimal preparations. (Guess what Ryan Hall, the Africans will make a huge move and if you don't go with them, you won't win) There is no tomorrow attitude of Africans is another reason they're so much more successful.

Does their coach need to be that smart and/or do the Wisconsin runners need to be that shielded from the "expectations" of having enough talent to win NCAA's so why wouldn't they win their home meet that they went out and recruited all these great teams to come to?

I can't wait for Wisconsin Adidas Invite on Friday cause I will be there cheering for my Wisconsin boys and seeing all my buddies from other colleges

First. Not a shot in hell Lukas V wins this meet, or wins NCAA's! He is going to need a great day to be top 15 here...nearly every single team here has a guy that can run up front, and has credentials equal to or better than Lukas V, remember first day of College XC practice, they tell you High School doesn't mean shit anymore...i wanna see that lead pack it is gunna be epic..can't wait to see who just goes for it! My guess is Diego will do something bold, and i'll give him a predicted runner up finish, Derrick has shown again and again he runs fierce this time of year...Derrick for the win..but also i'm excited to see who has the best 1-2 punch!

and is BYU really as good as it appeared at ND?

2nd. Xc is a team sport...so i care more about the team aspect, and damn wisco is good, BYU, Indiana, and oh did i forget the best of them all Stanford-when your 5 man is as talented like Ben Johnson is..youre gunna be hard to beat! Let the games begin Friday!!!

I love 'bear some bad news' comment from above and the fact the IU would play these type of games is a perfect illustration!

Indiana will definitely be in Madison Friday. Of course, that could be the women and coaches with the men going to Terre Haute. They are still listed as a top team running in Madison. Also note that Indiana is at Wisconsin for football this weekend and it is homecoming for Wisconsin. It does make sense to run some guys at PreNats, the coaches can make both, redshirt runners have to get themselves to meets PreNats is in their own backyard and they probably work some with Indiana State. The guy in the video (thanks for the comment; a link would have been a nice extra bit, since what Indiana does is of interest) does indicate that 'they' are going to PreNats with Iona and OSU but the woman is talking about the adidas Invite.
