In my opinion, Fayetteville-Manlius 2010 is the best high school team ever

They did have a great team. Karyn Delay was a very good runner. they had 4 outstanding runners followed by a very good runner. It's a close call on which team was better.

complete disregard? ya must not be a new yorker, or an american for that matter. everyone knows those girls are built as tough as nails as a result of clean, healthy eating.

I looked at the Footlocker results from 2004 Blood 21. Davidson 23, Ferguson 24, Lane 38. They were a great team but lets not embellish history.

For anyone who may have missed it Bill Meylan (Tullyrunners.com) has wriiten a nice analsys of how he rates the top teams for the 7 years of NXN.

Not to make excuses, but one week after a tough inaugural race at NXN, the Saratoga 4 were heading back across country for another tough Nationals race that only a couple of the other runners like Ramsay Kavan, Brittany Felnagle and Allison Eckert were pulling a double for. Blood finished in the top 10 at FLN in her freshman and soph years when she didn't have NXN to run at. And Blood beat the 2004 FLN winner, Warwick Valley's Aislinn Ryan, pretty handily at both the NY States and Feds meets.

So would Blood, Ferguson, Davidson, and Lane finished higher up if they had just one XC national to fly out for and two weeks to get ready for FLN like Ryan was able to do? I would guess yes, but I'm probably just embellishing their rep.

Interesting.. Meylan and I come up with different numbers (and that's ok!), but either way it's clear: Toga '04 and FM '10 are the top two teams at NTN/NXN so far, with the FM '08 and '09 squads rounding out the top 4 (if I recall correctly...)

Our boys race results must be a bit further apart...
