Hey, no one, do you run in your trainers?
Hey, no one, do you run in your trainers?
steve, if it was a 4:03.3 than congrats, and no i don't think there is any conspiracy, i just figured that you posted that you split a 4:03.3 on your log (wherever the hell that is) and all your groupies came out of the woodworks. you are a better runner than me and i congratulate you on all your good performances and understand the bad ones. what i don't get is that when people question what was up the groupies get all pissed and tell people that they are losers and go on to ask their pr's. if a 4:40 guy runs 5:00 then people are going to wonder what happened as well. anyway, the real congrats should go to mike taylor in this whole deal, because if you ran 4:03, which i'm not saying you didn't, than he ran at least 3:57, not too bad, maybe 3:56.

Let's hear it for Texas's next great miler Stev... I mean Erik Stanley. This kid will be next great thing because he focuses on things that are important like running opposed to posting his workouts on the net. Steve Magness, you have something like a cult. Your a talented runner, but you do seem cocky and arrogant. Everybody that has came into contact with you have agreed that you are a prick.
That's strange -- you really seem like a huge jackass, too!
In fact, you may be the biggest jackass yet to post here.
You are so green with envy you can't even see straight. This Magness kid has a great set-up at a great school that looks like it will allow him to really develop at a sensible pace.
I dont think anyone is realy Jelouse, I think w believe Magness to be a dumbass. Yea the Kid runs 4:01 a year ago, so should we respect him even though he is a typical "Geek"
I dont think so, I think I should hate him, because anyone that is Cocky and Dorky at the same time, should be hated. Now lets all go drink some beer and leave that 3:54 1500m runner at Band Camp.....
That was disappointing.
I don't read Steve Magness' online log religiously, but I don't think he puts himself on an "imaginary thown [sic]". He trains hard, he has faith in his training, and he sets tough goals for himself. On the side, he has fun. Maybe you think he has fun in stupid ways, but who cares? What do you want him to do, lock himself in his dorm room and meditate between runs?
Steve, most people interested in track want you to do very well. I am glad you chose a prestigious university like Rice and you are working your hardest. That's what collegiete athletics should be all about. We all have bumps in the road... the experience will make you stronger for the future! A lot of training is trail-and-error, and you seem to be figuring things out.
Go for it!
PS. CoCoCo, I don't like anyone here to look like an idiot, so I suggest you take a walk down the hall to your fourth grade classroom during recess tomorrow and ask your teacher for some extra help with basic grammar. Not everyone on here wants to bash elites, but everyone who read your post knows that you sound like a moron with no writing skills. Get some help, junior, while you still can.

I'm glad you guys love to hate me. I have no idea what I've done to any of you.
just to make sure, i was poiting OUT the message board phenomona...
i say lay off guys into their WHOLE COMPLETE season is done
keep it up
"and this is what happens when you break 4 or come very near in HS, magness.......people love to hate you
webb gets screwed everyday on these boards, sage, now its magness' turn, eh?"
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....Magness ran 3:54
enough said about the flamer
Just remember, CoCoCo, JESUS IS WATCHING YOU...especially when you jerk off. He likes to laugh at that think you call a penis.
He was masturbating!!!!
gotta be a joke about Steve being cocky and arrogant. Texas envy for sure. How could a seemingly above average HS miler/prolific internet poster become the country's hottest miler? He is a down to earth kid and very gracious. Every time I sent him an email with a question or comment, he has written back thanking me for the support and offering a few words. Good guy.
Steve, you have my full support.
He also ran a 4:01... as a high schooler.
That says a lot. One bad race does not make or break someone's career, especially if it is a trimeet in March!
My favorite thing about Steve is how he would play with the other houstun runners at the slower meets by talking and laughing durring the race. The best though was his District meet where he walked on to the Track to run the 3200m run and when the gun went off just stood there while everyone began the race, and then he walked off the track laughing. Sounds like he has a lot of class.
I'm sure no one here did stupid things in HS that they regret now right? Steve's goofy HS antics with FMR are well documented. I just don't see arrogance in his personality, just maybe a bit of HS immaturity that got the best of him. If I had just run a 4:01 1600 at age 17, I might feel a little bit more cocky than usual at that moment.
and the fact that he shares his training information with all of us...I think it's a good thing...I always tend to see how he does in his races and am pulling for him to be a successful distance runner.....
coco is clearly a dick for a couple reasons;
1) he's probably not running well right now
2) probably got smoked by magness in a race and is pissed about it
3) doesnt get the ladies
4) seems to think everyone is running to gain his approval and praise
5) cant, for the life of him even dream about beating me, Shark Tatt
6) Thinks he's smooth for talking about the things Magness did in high school which were clearly jokes, then turning them around into something completely false.
Coco, if you're reading this; I, Shark Tatt challenge you to a weight lifting competition, because I already know that I'd completely dust you on the outter loop. For some stats; im 210 lbs, and I bench 490 regularly post morning tempo runs. I eat powerbars for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
I look forward to meeting and destroying you soon,
sexually yours,
Shark Tatt

So now you heroically bash him on internet messageboards under an assumed name.
Way to break the cycle of immaturity. You're showing everyone what classy behavior is all about. In fact, you DEFINE classy behavior.
Steve never talked during races. If you didn't notice he ran every race his senior year pressing from the front...
Also at district last year, he didn't stand on the line of the 3200 and just not run. He warmed up with his teammate Gabe, stretched with him and then just hung around him talking, but steve walked off the starting line before everyone was even all lined up. I'm pretty sure everyone at that point knew he wasn't running because he wasn't wearing spikes and didn't have racing shorts. I was there...so before you make up something at least.
Who is Steve Magness? Has he run a 3:55 mile like Lunn and Berryhill.
Heck, I will just google him.
We should appreciate Steve writing his logs on the internet, if you don't like them don't read them, it's a pretty simple formula. They are very insightful and just plain funny sometimes. It's very neat to see someone so dedicated to the sport. He will only get stronger and faster as the years go by. Just run Steve, have fun, and lastly don't listen to this crazy shit people are saying.
Yea Steve, don't listen to all the things people like me say, because whether you read these postings or not, you are still going to be a high school cinderela story. Good luck at making nationals though, I know it is going to be a giant challange for you!!
