Can Jason Rahm knock 27 minutes off his marathon PR to make the trials?

No way this is happening. He believes in aquajogging as marathon training instead of knee rehabilitation. He might have a chance if he ups his mileage next year and goes again next fall.

That's if he doesn't get fired for not showing up to work for a year straight.

Nobody has. The hate is for the con game he's attempting via his blog, it does a disservice to those who legitimately do have a shot at the OT, let alone at the Olympic team. He is making a mockery of our sport to his employer and loved ones.

Holy shit. I've been reluctant to bag on this guy, but I hope he was injured coming into this race with a finish like that. Even I've run faster and I'm a non-collegiate mid-30's runner who cobbled together a marathon plan on LetRun's weekly marathon thread. Not to mention, Joanie kicked his ass too, although I can think of worst people to get chased down by (i.e. Mr. Rahm himself).

Enough with Rahm though, Hartmann had a hell of race as did Davila. A worthy congratulations for those two Americans today.

Well he was within 5 minutes of the women's trials qualifier....so maybe that was his goal and he/she has a secret that is going to come out soon?

Well, he ended up as the tenth-fastest Jason in the race, and 9th fastest American Jason. If he can just beat those guys next time, including Hartmann, he's got a shot at the Trials!

Oh I misread the title and thought it was asking about "Jason Rexing." Now that would be worth my time.

...and Letsrun slaughters a guy trying to take advantage of a cool situation and run a fast marathon. Depressing.

Because in the process he made a joke of our sport. He was doing more than what you claim, he got his "cool situation" by ridiculously misrepresenting his abilities and potential, in the process denigrating those who do possess that level of ability and potential by extension.

I like that this thread is the top google hit on a search of his name.

have helped his employer to see what a fraud and a no-account goldbrick he has been.

I hope he takes it all in-stride as a good kick-in-the-pants to not only get on with investing more into his paying career but also to keep trying his best to improve as a runner while working full-time because, as many others have proven, he certainly shouldn't need extra time off from work just to get to 2:30 or better in the marathon.
