Boylan-Pett sure enough ran 1:51.50 for 4th at the Adidas Outdoor Championships as a junior in 2003.
If that list of high school 800 times for the Texas guys doesn't label them as incredible recruits as is, get a load of their 1,600/mile times. Darren Brown had already run 4:03.19 for the mile as a sophomore at Providence before coming to UT, Erik Stanley ran 4:03.77 for 1,600 as a junior in high school (finshing second in his District (!!!) behind Steve Magness, who ran 4:01.58), Manzano ran 4:06.29 for 1,600 as a hs junior to set a Texas Relays record, Miller ran 4:09.04 for 1,600 in hs (although 1:50.26 is probably more impressive), Rhodes-Devey ran a 4:09.92 hs mile and Hernandez had run 1:47.96 while at TCU. Compared to the pre-UT accomplishments of those guys, Jake Morse, who would be a prize catch in the Ivy League, seems like one of the "slow" signees for Texas with a 4:11.47 mile, slightly better than Boylan-Pett (4:10.89 1,600). College sports really are mostly about recruiting, recruiting, recruiting.
