I agree with most of what been said,BUT this is how I see it.I believe that nobody on here lacks respect for John Brown or thinks he's past it,but the beef with his selection is with UKA, because they did state the team would be selected on form ie they would look at Chichester, Sutton park ALONG with anything else of recent note.So there is a lot of top lads feeling cheated when they see John and Nick selected. With your ref to relays split times being used ie it can be unfair depending on what leg or who your chasing/running with etc, I believe you that into consideration when looking at times as there only a guide line to form.As you stated Billy F had a battle and Steve H not so.A better example of that was Belgrave puting Wicksy on last leg, he ran 17.09 and never saw anyone, which has to be worth 10-20 secs.As for other recent form, when Chichester was on he was in New York where he beat Billy F by 24 secs over 3.5 miles.Look at his recent AAA win in Bristol. Look at Frank Tickners run at southern 6 stage. So one can only presume that the likes of Frank,Phil and Phil Nichols said NO in favour of doing the Liverpool Trail, otherwise something is very wrong with our selected policy. Finally I believe if you give these guidelines out so openly then they should be adhered to. I think an explanation would not go amiss.
