I seems that the debate has identified that the runners which were in the frame and perhaps worthy of selection have opted to aim for European XC selection (clashes with the relay)which is more prestigious....including the three lads you mention. So it seems that the UKA selection was probably the right one in the circumstances.

Your right, easy to bump up your own, what Hepples done over the last few years, nothing at all, that's what!

But were Tickner,Wicks and Nichols offered Selection ? How do we know if they were or not ? I think a lot of trust has has been lost, and needs to be regained as there are a lot of runners wondering " WHATS THE POINT ".

i think webb should have been pick for the relay and nick for the 5k track race, i think webb has been running well to make the team but nothing against the lad but he will get his arse kick in the 5k track race with a pb of 14.11 he's just not a tack runner, but nick is meant to be a track runner so a 5k now would suit him better.

Well again - I dont think there is anyone who can be so disgusted by not being selected that they will resort to - whats the point?....I think those who you talk about might have been slighted a little but should go away and train harder and if they really want selection for the Ekidens then perform at such a level that the selectors cannot not pick them.

I DONT THINK McCORMICK KNOWS HIMSELF WHAT HE'S BEST AT, ie 1500 OR 5000m, hence the change of coach.

y shouldn't webb be going he was 4= fastest last weekend which shows he is in good shape, u keep saying that these people should be going, well who should be your 6 then? remember people want to do the europeans as well?

Jon is also contracted by Mizuno. This may or may not have an impact of whom the japanese fans / media would prefer to see run. JB has always run very well in Japan and now is another opportunity for him to promote Mizuno UK in his sponsor's corporate backyard.

I think you may find that the three advised that they did not wish to be considered.

As Dave A alludes to, take a look at what Name Names has said. Go down the resuts and you start to see where the team did come from. Taking races into consideration is not the same as saying fastest athlete who says 'yes' will go.

Conection's right - the reason I used Steve and Moumin is that they're mates (although Moumin isn't eligible for GB) and I don't know Phil as well. But also Phil had a clear disadvantage whereas you could argue it either way with Moumin and Steve. Better to be chasing or better to be side by side?

WERE THEY - UKA may well have spoken to the guys involved. I don't know either way but I do know they do have these conversations when people assume they haven't.

Does anyone feel left out by the policy? Steve Hepples? He could be top of the list with a reason to gripe. But he has the numbers of the selectors and I'm sure he's up to calling them if he doesn't like what's been done.

Straight after my last post I went for a run with a mate who ran 3.35 in the olden days. He said, "I don't get it. If you don't like the selection decision you don't moan, you have to go out and run faster." If it's a grey area as to whether you're in or not you can't really complain too loudly at not making it. No letsrun in those days. If you make sure there's no doubt, there's no doubt.

Which only places him 12th in the UK rankings for 10K road.

Jones of Belgrave has beaten Davies in the last two 10K`s he has raced against him (Great Welsh 10K and Chichester 10K)and Jones also beat Brown in the last 10K he raced him (Great Welsh 10K).

I am not advocating Jones should be selected as his times are not fast enough.

Just pointing out that Brown beating Davies is not a valid argument for selection "on form", unless Brown`s time is also of an adequate standard.
