Two years ago (2006) Jack bolas ran the fastest mile in the nation. I want to say it was around 4:02 or 4:03. Then his freshman year he went on to Wisconsin and was a freshman all-american as the anchor of the distance medley(4 flat mile).

Wow, what a name from the past. I remember Amanda well. I was a few years older than her but ran in alot of the same road races and junior olympic meets that she did (next age group up and in the male division). I remember she was very very good and won most everything but after 20 + years I don't remember what her times were. I do remember her running in a high school XC race one year (before she was of high school age) and there were only 2 girls who could beat her and they were two of the best in the state. If anyone knows her times I'd love it if you'd share some of those old results. I know some young phenoms today and was wondering how they compared to what Amanda use to run.
anyone remember Bob Mahoney from Watauga? He was a 800 meter runner. He told me he ran for Team USA, so he must have been pretty good.
John Erricson was fantastic, can't forget about Chad Pearson though. 10 minute guy in high school, 28:30ish in college

Man, I hate seeing this. I didn't know Farlow well, but I just looked at some old newspaper clips from High School at my parents' house over Thanksgiving and he was in a few of the pictures. I was thinking about how he was always so nice after races.
Did he run in college? Maybe I am just totally blanking, but I cannot remember what happened to him after HS. I hope that he was happy. RIP.
Farlow was super talented. Came in 4th in 4A as a frosh. Won in 93 as a Soph. Faded to 5th as a junior, then I don't think ran as a senior. Not sure about college.
