Hold the phone----I just got off my Blackberry on a conference call with Alberto. Allen Iverson will be the next XC coach of the Ducks.

Apparently they had some salary cap room to spare after renegotiating Rupp's contract.

Sorry to sidetrack, but a question about Gerard from someone not nearly as in the know as the rest of you. Is this the same Andy that ended up at Western Michigan when their program was cut and moved back to Omaha? What's his back story?

Best post I've seen so far. Rupps contract included a couple of international flights. One he is cashing in as we speak.

i heard that there is a virtual unknown out of wisco, or ohio or somewhere in the midwest that flew out to take a look at the campus, anybody else hear anything else like that...think he might have been a big ten guy???

How do you figure? What about Jerry Schuamer (sp), Brad Hudson, Mark Wetmore, Joe Vigil, Bob Larson, John McDonell, Alberto Salazar, Ron Warhurst, or Bernard Lagat's coach just to name a few? Success is hard define, but if you want to go by top end succes with elite athletes and college teams, Centro is not top five. That is not the only component that defines success in running, it's a pretty arbitrary arguement, but I wouldn't say that Centro is top 5 in the country, no question.

This stuff is funny to read. Why does everyone keep thinking Vin is leaving. He will be the coach at Oregon for the next several years at least. All of these people are just trying to get rumors started. Vin is going nowhere!

I think they just meant to say that Vin has come out of the closet. He is GAY!!

Vin does not like coaching. He left a great situation at Stanford becuase he wants to administrate and be an AD. Thats why he went to Oberlin. Ask his current athletes at Oregon if he is at practice 25 % of the time. They will say Andy Powell coaches them. So yes, Vin wants to be the AD and will not be coaching the Oregon ducks for long, if you call what he does now, other then recruit as coaching, for long.

I think that would be fabulous... VIN as AD and hire coach Q from Arizona State, you know he wants to leave ASU!!

This is a bit of a side note but after talking with Andy Powell last night he had confirmed that Oregon was still undecided as to who the new coach would be. Andy (and his wife) are looking for a new coaching position. Andy was told by Vin that 'He would do whatever he could to help'.

Andy feels that who ever gets brought in, (He still thinks in might be Schumaker) that the new coach will want to bring their own assistant.

I have two questions:

Where do think Andy and his wife will go?

And what open positions are there for the fall?

I talked to Andy last night and he said the Dodgers of all teams were interested.

I talked with Andy last night, and from the sounds of it him and his wife will become the coaches of the latest NBA team the Eugene Hippies. They have traded Vin to the Sixers for AI, and a over-priced Japanese pitcher to be named later.
