I just got off the phone with a credible source who says Vin is going to be named the next A.D. of Oregon. He could not pass up the great deal that Oregon and Nike offered him. Who will be named the next coach of the Ducks?

Centorwitz to replace Vin as coach.
What about Pat Tyson?
I know he just started at Kentucky, but he WAS the interim coach before Vin was hired.
No one will be the next coach. Vin will have dual roles. I would just expect Mike Reilly to take on a bigger role in the track and cross country programs.
CENTROWITZ? He has the lineage, the secret handshake, et al. Would he really come and coach his son?

I'm not sure you are respecting the role of the A.D. He will be very busy with sports that matter a lot to Oregonians. Football and basketball. And then he will have to worry about everything else including track.
This actually could be a hit for Oregon running because he will not have the time for recruiting. I would even suspect him to bring Mike into the assistant A.D. roll as they are so tight, and he will need a lot of support.
We'll see what happens, if this indeed even happening. I say you bring Pat Tyson in for track, the man bleeds green and yellow. With he and Vin looking out for Oregon running................Jesus!
That's a stupid move if Vin takes the job. AD is a political postition, and not an athletic position. Oregon has no exposure in the sports world outside of a few press releases about the famished white aboriginal running team. If Vin wants to be a politician he should take the AD job at a major NCAA sports campus.
Like Oberlin?
Are you kidding? Of course this was coming. You don't think Vin left Stanford for some AD in the middle of no where for nothing did you? It was to show experience on his resume. I'm sure the Phil Knight and the U of Oregon AD told him ahead of time he would be getting the AD job. It is what he wanted...
Shame the great talents Vin has demonstrated in the running world will be wasted on the likes of football and basketball. I'm sure he'll be invested in running still.

Yeah, Oregon sports is pretty low key. They aren't like other schools that have can afford to have their starting quarterback be painted on a mural in a city 3000 miles away....

You are stupid. This was the plan from the time Vin was approached by Nike to take the coaching role. He wanted out of coaching and moved from Stnaford to be an AD at a small school. When Phil approached him with the "idea" he made the decision it was a good one. For thos of you that think this is just a coincidence, you need to get your heads out of the mud. Nike/Phil Night have wanted this for years. They finally pressed hard and long enough to make it happen. Vin may not have been the orginial man they had in mind, but he more than fills the slot. Oregon will keep getting Nike money. Now, more than ever before.
Louie Quintana to Oregon. You heard here first.
This is all very interesting and almost spot on. When Vin was brought in, he was charged with getting the distance program back and running - with some national exposure. Vin's title as an Associate AD is/was by no mistake. His intentions were to be the AD at U of O or someplace and it's all just happening sooner rather than later. It was speculated that if Vin becomes the AD that he would recommend for Jerry Schumacher to direct the Men and Louie Quintana the Women.
Why would Jerry take a position that was, as most, a lateral move; his roots are in UW not Oregon? (there may be an answer to this question, but it begs the asking)
Vin can make the most impact by moving to Ethiopia or Kenya. Oregon can't do anything with the material they get. Niether can Colorado, Wisco, Stanford or anywhere else. The American lifestyle of trans-fat doesn't produce top runners. China can't buy Vin a team thru their proxies at Nike. Nike, Vin, Oregon, etc. will never produce Olympic medals such as you see from UCLA and USC down south.
Everyone is an Assistant AD at big universities. They are like banks with numerous Assistant VP slots. AD is an adminstrative job, not an academic or coaching job. It'll be a great loss if Vin steps out of coaching. Too bad for Oregon. What a loss for running.
Vin isn't going anywhere. Belloti to AD, you heard it hear first.
Show me the money!!!! A.D.'s might make a little more than minor sport coach.
Balotti will be lucky to keep his day job this year.
Vin in at AD
Belloti out as Football Coach
Stanford hires Belloti as Football on the farm. That's all i got now.
