Love watching the down votes coming in from the Addy fan club ie family and friends of Dathan. Everyone else knows it’s the truth. 😂😂
Ritz has exactly same chance to win as in 2023. Seeded 5-10 running on a sloppy course.
The 2020 race with Young/Touhy was also on a sloppy course. Both winners led wire to wire to get the best footing. Of course Tuohy famously almost was caught by chase pack...but wasn't.
Although there is no favorite, the group of Lowen, Dudek, Bartlett and Wilson are sure to take this out fast and try to break each other. None of this group has any interest in tactics.
Chase pack will be Alder, Gullickson and Ritz.
I'll go with Lilly Alder for the win, not leading til last 400m.
Absolutely WRONG. Addy has NO chance to win. Lowen, Dudek and Bartlett leap years above her

That's what the pundits said about Leachman, Forsyth and Engelhardt in 2023 as well.
Ritz was not a favorite, but she ran a smart race, got lucky and won.
Same thing could happen again, but unlikely. The SW ladies, coming down from altitude and perhaps not yet showing their 'A' game are always a threat though.
Hahaha. TWO years ago is awhile. She's not even projected to be in the top 3. And sorry, lots of regional champions running that are both faster and smarter. No one cares what swamp or place she ran in last year. This is THIS year....no chance

No, people just think you're pathetic for laughing at a HS girl.

given the way NXR SW played out i can't imagine that Delaney Reuter won't at least be with the Alder/Ritz group.

I think people underestimate Dudek a little bit. She split a 29.3 second last 200m for her state meet to get a 16:09.5 - she has incredible speed. Her NXR meet, which were in similar (albeit more windy) conditions than Rachel’s CR run is where she really stood out to me. Dudek’s splits were 3:04, 3:20, 3:17, 3:20, 3:17 and her last 400m was straight into the wind. Rachel’s splits were 2:59, 3:20, 3:20, 3:23, 3:29. Unlike Rachel, Natasza eased her way into the lead over the first 1200m whereas Rachel gapped the field by 8 seconds in the first 400m & 10 seconds in the first 1k. Natasza’s ridiculously smart.

Yes, Dudek is smart. I don't think anyone is underestimating her. After all she's the only girl in the country to have 2 speed ratings of at least 165.
Will any of those athletes running on a muddy course up in Portland decide to pack it in, in preparation for the Championship in San Diego a week later?
Preparing to race the historic Balboa Park course, we’ve got the likes of:
You keep calling her Paige Spencer when her last name is Sheppard.
Chiara Dailey is not running NXN.
None of those girls is likely to take it easy at NXN.
Paige Sheppard Spencer -- she did her best Sophie O'Sullivan impersonation at the New Jersey NJSIAA XC Meet of Champions trying to bully / shove / herd eventual winner Leah Starkey towards the finish line.
If roller derby becomes big again she has a bright future.
She has no shot to win NXN or Brooks/footlocker/balboa park.

I was responding to someone saying that she didn’t have speed - in general, most people are not underestimating her at all. She’s definitely a contender to win in many people’s eyes.

NXN entries are out. Interesting of Niwot to run their 13th girl at NXR SW at NXN. They have insane depth.
Yeah. They have over a dozen girls who can run sub 19. That is one of their biggest strengths. If one runner has a bad day or gets sick, the drop off is not that steep to the next.
I look forward to races like this when there are multiple strong contenders but no clear consensus favorite. Would love to see a half dozen girls leading with 1/2 mile to go & have the race go down to the last 100m.

Looks like she was their 4th runner at state, so likely sick at NXR since they are subbing her back in.
Sophia Rodriguez ran 16:10 back in September and went undefeated (not counting Worlds) until Regionals- not sure what happened there. I imagine she could be in the mix if she is in top form.
As far as I know, the only sub-17 performances on WakeMed are:
Irene Riggs 16:02.1 2022
Katelyn Tuohy 16:22.8 2019
Averi Lowen 16:27.2 2025
Allie Zealand 16:34.3 2023
Nevada Mareno 16:36.2 2016
Averi Lowen 16:37.3 2025
Aisling Cuffe 16:40.9 2010
Kelsey Chmiel 16:43.8 2018
Ryen Frazier 16:44.3 2014
Abby Faith Cheeseman 16:44.3 2023
Calysta Garmer 16:50.0 2025
Jazzlyn Garmer 16:50.1 2025
Maysen Fletcher 16:53.3 2025
Madeline Dorsch 16:55.3 2025
Calysta Garmer 16:58.5 2025
Averi Lowen 16:59.2 2024
Madeline Dorsch 16:59.7 2025
Just for reference, when Lowen ran the 16:27.2, Lily Alder ran 17:00.0 and Mackenzie Skelly ran 17:08.0. Maysen Fletcher won the Brooks South Regional today, Calysta Garmer was 3rd and Madeline Dorsch was 4th.
I think Bartlett is the favorite but I would not count out Lowen.
I don’t want to be insensitive in stating the obvious about Lowen, but she is definitely not equipped to handle sloppy, wet/cold racing conditions as well as the other contenders.
