Hot take: Southwest only gets one wildcard. Sorry AF.
Definitely is a hot take but they were 2 points off Herriman at states, and 2 points off Coronado. Unless Jesuit CA and Carroll get third AF should be fine
The battle for the final 2 at large spots are going to be really interesting, if there is a year for Cali not to get its this year cause the last couple they have not ran well at NXN

Probably. Have to take a good look at State College too. A very good team from the Northeast.
How are Noblesville’s chances of getting an at large? They were only 14 points back from Plainfield who got an auto qualifier, and they beat them at Nike Twilight by 42 points. Their 5th had an off day, he is usually 15:50s. They had an extremely solid top 4 at nxr with 15:01, 15:24, 15:25, and 15:38 on a tough Lavern Gibson course.
Noblesville doesn't have a good enough number 5 to make it imo. Their number 5 guy all year who ran in the 15:50s laid an egg and ran 17:23 at NXR. He also ran a 16:38 at state which shows this wasn't just one bad day. Their next up guy ran 16:33 at NXR and hasn't broken 16:20 all year. I don't know why their number 5 guy had such a big fall off but without him healthy they're not an NXN caliber team.
Looks like sw definitely will get 2 with Herriman being in 4th, CA will probably get 1 and the 4th?? Belen Jesuit, Mead could be quite a few teams.
Herriman was actually#2. Two of the "teams" above then were unattached. Next two were Coronado and American Fork. I expect they will both get at large bids
Sorry, I was thinking boys. I'm assuming this was intended for girls
No way nike doesn't give belen jesuit an at large qualification - they don't really deserve it, but Mantecon is a nike elite athlete and their coach is a nike club coach.
McCallie in that situation but I don’t think either of those performances outshine the rest of the country’s at large cases.
McCallie had golden opportunities to autoqualify back in 2022 and 2023.
In 2023, their normal #2 guy fell midrace and ended up not scoring
In 2022 I think one of their top 5 guys had an off race
But it happens
I thought that today they ran really well, they just got beat by a couple of really good teams. And last year they did well for what was supposed to be a “rebuilding year” after losing 4 seniors
Still a great year for the southeast, the first year in a long time they’ll have sent 3 teams, which will almost definitely happen whether it’s McCallie or Belen
Belen’s 4th and 5th in the 16:30s today.
Yes they were slower however that course isn’t fast. Mantecon won with a 15:03. His PB is a 14:33.

5th man with a 159 speed rating today is too low. They are out of the conversation.

Back in 2019, Nike was giving individual at larges to people even if they don’t race at NXR. If there’s a perfect year to do it, it would be this year.
