Is Jimmy Whelan going to actually race, or just post a bunch of crap on instagram.
I dunno how long he’s going to be liked in the sport. It’s not cycling. We love guys like Liam Adams who are out there often giving it a crack and are humble about it.

Well, he's injured so I guess for the time being best just going to post a bunch of crap on Instagram
If you look at his strava it appears he has been all in on running for a few months now and isn't doing much in the way of swimming or biking. It would be hard to do those activities on top of the volume running he does so it's likely he's given up on triathlon and is focused on running now. Given his form and HM time it seems to make sense that's where his biggest opportunity is
Indeed. I don’t see any biking for him since later June and no swim. Unclear at this point what he is doing. Nice 10km (28:32), 15km (43:01), 10 mile (46:12), 20km (57:58) PB on the way to his HM PB.
So afraid that he blows out his achilles in the Zatopek 10km. if not, he should go sub 27:50
I heard in a YouTube interview that he hurt his foot while training with spikes. He did 2 monster sessions in spikes (first time he put on spikes in X years?), so I am not totally surprised. He didn’t say what his “foot” issue was however. He obviously did not respect the constraints that we live with as runners. I remember when I started. Injuries was something other people got (not me), so I moved up my volume and intensity. Progress was unbelievable (for a while), then I realized that I had the same constraint as 99% of runners (maybe worse in my case).
So my fear of him blowing his Achilles at Zatopek did not materialize because he hurt himself a couple of weeks before. He’s been jogging again for the past couple of days after 1 month off.
