The fundamental flaw in your argument is you assume the world record is legit. I don’t. I don’t know what the actual legit (sans doping) WR is, but it’s not faster than 2:02.
What am I talking about here? Am I saying that if you put Steve Jones into today’s shoes at Chicago, he runs 2:05:13 back in the early to mid-80s? Why, yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying. Even faster with much better pacing than when he severely positive splitted his 2:07.
