If Hocker were in the race, he would've won easily

Hocker acted like a bull in a china shop and treated the race like it was a UFC event.

It kinda looked ridiculous seeing him with his ponytail trying to barge his way through like a punk into a sleazy 1970s nightclub.

It is not a great look for the sport - both the ponytail and his barging.

I don't believe this was such an off-year for Hobbs. Sure, he wasn't putting out crazy results following his 3:46 indoor mile in February, but then in July he looked to be really coming into form--1:44 800m and then barely missing out on the 1500m team. I agreed with his assessment that he looked perfect in that 1500m final, and it was more a matter of circumstance and misfortune that kept him off the podium; in the U.S. there's never been more men in one race wholly capable of earning a spot on that team.

Had Hocker been in the race he would've gotten himself trapped on the inside, yet again, as he's prone to do, and been at the absolute mercy of whether or not other people swung wide. There were WAY too many people at the same level this time around that no one wanted to take it out and paid for it like Jakob has done in the past.

Hocker's tactics are gonna have to shift a bit. He doesn't necessarily need to be the one in the front but he needs to be more on the outside of Lane 1 instead of letting himself get swallowed up in a field and hope someone pulls a Chelimo in the final stretch.

I woulda won too. ...if I had talent.

I predict the next time he tries the inside rail trick he'll find himself landing in the steeple chase water pit.
