If he was a 400 guy, you'd be pushing him to run an 800.
He's an 800 guy. Just enjoy it. He might decide to go to 1500.
You have no conception of the difference between 44.1 and 43.5

No. He ran a 4:06 mile. This is not done by 400m specialists. He has the ability to eventually run 45.2 or so. This wouldn’t make him a 400m runner. He is an 800m runner.
re: "eventually run 45.2Are "
Are you serious; he could probably run close to that right now. He ran (46.3) 3 months ago against high school kids at a meet where he ran 3 events in one day. I agree he will be an 800m specialist, but there is no doubt he will be a world class 400m sprinter as well. I predict he will be consistent 45x sprinter as a high school junior.
Yes, it's insane to think that his best event will be 400 meters. However, it's possible that 400 meters will be his second-best event, even though most letsrun posters want Cooper to run the mile, because 1) they care more about the mile than the 400 meters and 2) they think that white people are better suited for the mile. But I don't know, it seems pretty clear to me that he's going to end up as a 44x 400 meter runner, and I've never heard of anybody with that much fast twitch being competitive at a distance longer than 800 meters.
I mean, his 800 mark is far better than his 400. He's now world class athlete in the 800. In the 400, he's one of the best in his state. Zero chance he doesn't focus on the 800 going forward, particularly if he goes pro.
I can see Cooper concluding his career like 12 years from now with a PB of 44.5 or faster. I think he could even run 44 low. I think his fastest mile, at most, will probably be 3:54 ish. He's a lot like David Rudisha. Almost exact same frame, build, form and everything. It's amazing.
The 400m is definitely his second-best event. Sorry distance junkies, but he's never running anywhere near 3:28.

there are a couple of guys in football (soccer) that can.
Garth Bale is one.
Bale would be good for at least 10.2 199m being the fastest footballer on the planet, coupled with stamina

Being a good sprinter isn't about "fast twitch," which anyone can build up if they train for it, lift heavy, etc.
Being a good sprinter is training the gait cycle to operate much faster. Training the muscles and joints to take 4 or more steps per second so they can achieve and maintain a pace near 10 m/s.
It's pretty simple if you think about it. If you want to go 400m at an average 9 m/s, the scalar speed of your feet needs to be 9 m/s too, or you'll slow down from braking force every time they hit the track. That takes radically different movement, and a 1600/800 runner is never going to reach elite level at it unless they switch to the training full time.
definitely 10.2 for 199m, that last 1m is where everyone's 200 falls apart
Gareth bale doesn't even play football anymore and he wasn't a sprinter regardless

He’s definitely an 800m guy.
But I will say, he could be a second faster in the 400m. The problem with comparing PRs sometimes is you get unpeaked, early season meets for your off events.
On the day he ran 1:42., he probably would’ve split 44.5r. He split 45.3 in April. And definitely runs significantly under 4.

I hate to always do this: stop comparing him to what you think fast twitch means.
He ran 4:06 - a top 5 US AT time for a sophomore. Definitely running significantly less than than Webb did.
