Kinda hard to duck someone that's not much competition. Bol will never beat Sydney and the ones with common sense knows this. Now the clowns on here will surely say Sydney is ducking Bol because they hate Sydney for being so good. The only reason Bol has any gold medals is because of the absence of Sydney.
Bol has relay golds that have nothing to do with Sydney. In smaller countries every medal is equally valued, and that's especially true of team environments like Papendal where everybody on that relay trains together all year working on that relay. They watch videos all year on relay exchanges and even how to enter and exit the relay zone for maximum benefit.
That's why the Dutch relay teams win national awards almost every year at the year ending gala. This is not an athletics gala. It's for all sports. A huge social event that is televised and everyone dresses to the max. Those relays are celebrated as, "Team of the Year," for the entire country, and this is in a country obsessed with soccer and plenty of other successful teams to choose from.
In short, anyone who tries to discount Femke Bol is an outright fool. She's too classy to laugh at them but I do, on an ongoing basis.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has easily the worst fans in track and field. They are paranoid about Femke Bol for no reason. If you look at any Bol video on YouTube the comments below are loaded with Sydney fans launching needless attacks.
Nobody here truly knows Bol or Sydney on a personal level. Bol might pop a champagne after learning SML will only run the 400m but she obviously would not said that in public. My point is don't read too much from public interviews. It is mostly PR.
Will be very interesting to see how Chebet does in the 1500m. That race also has Georgia Hunter Bell and the top Ethiopians, including Tsegay.
Lot of big names in the men's 1500m besides the Americans you named: Laros, Myers, Nillessen, Nordas, El Bakkali, and the top Kenyans save Koech and Komen.
Stacked men's 100m with Lyles, Kenny, Kishane, Coleman, Simbine, Bromell, Lindsey, and Blake
Women's 100m has Melissa JW, Sha'Carri, Hobbs, Sears, Ta Lou-Smith, the Clayton sisters, and Asher-Smith
Savannah Sutherland running in the 400m hurdles against Bol, the top 3 Americans from last weekend, and the top 3 Jamaicans
Shericka Jackson's first 200m race in over two months
Agree it’ll be interesting to see Chebet run a 1500. I think she wins actually.
wish she was racing Faith in the 3k though. That would almost guarantee a WR
Agree wholeheartedly. I feel like a deal went down here.
The men's 1500m is a big field as they tend to be these days. 16 + 2 pacers.
The first 300m is going to be interesting to see who positions themselves where.
I get the feeling Myers will want to position himself near the front early on after having a few regretful races so far this year. But he will have to contend with the Americans, who all love front running to varying degrees and are all vying for a spot in the DL final. Throw in a Kenyan or two, and it will be thrilling going into the final lap.
I think Laros and Nordas are comfortable mid pack and will aim to cash in on those faltering at the front.
Women's 400mh also looks really strong, pretty much a precursor to the World Championship final with all the
I like Bukowiecka's progression this year
50.67, 50.21,50.14, 50.07, 49.72
She could be 49.2 in this race
Note Buckwiecka beat Naser over 300m two days ago, in the very impressive time of 35.51 (joint 7th AT with Kathy Cook) Naser ran 35.85. Naser blasted from the blocks and was leading until around 50m from the line, and then Buckwiecka did her trademark finish.
I had ruled the Pole out of contention earlier this season, she just didn't look herself. I still feel she is a bit erratic in performances (she only just beat Gomez and Hemida in Madrid) but this win over Naser in this time is significant.
On Bol, I have no doubt she would much rather win gold ahead of McLaughlin, than McLuaghlin not be there at all.
And to fans that p*ss on Bol's 23 gold in the absence of Sydney: do you do that with Gabby Thomas's Olympic gold, when there was no Jackson or Thompson-Herah? You can only beat who is in the race. If athletes DNS, that's not your fault, and it makes your gold no less worthy.
I misread this as Kerley and got excited for a second
Exactly. With Kerley's great speed he will absolutely dominate the Marathon once he moves up. Of course the progression will be gradual: 800 for a year, 1500 for a year, 5000 for a year then he will be Marathon ready. And rumor has it Jeremy Wariner will come out of retirement to specialize in the 800.
Wariner to the 800 will make a lot of poster here happy
the difference is, Sydney is the current 400mh WR and Worlds MR holder but Jackson or Thompson-Herah are not. AND Sydney is an active athlete (the 200m WR holder certainly not). Whether Bol like it or not, her records 50.37 and 50.68 will be mentioned at the final. So it will be reasonable to compare her and anyone running at the final. If Bol (or any other competitor) can't break or even close to her records, it will surely be regarded less worthy.
I guess you have short memories or biased blindness to make you not seeing Bol fans spreading hate towards Sydney all through the last year till now. they even spread false infomation everywhere trying to dispise Sydney by any means. Bol fans are delusional and hateful, someone biased like you are intentionly being hateful. frankly to say you are the worst.
How would DL work for Kessler? He currently has 0 points after his 10th place finish at Pre...his only DL race to date. Would he have to finish top 3 at Silesia and Brussels to get an invite to the DL final? Or would that not even be enough for him to get an invite? How many runners go to the final? And then you need to win the final outright (first place) to get into Worlds, correct? Not clear on how this all works.
Selesia will reveal if Kessler can actually progress to the next level ...or if it's time to completely rebuild himself via new coaching, revamped training or a completely different approach. Despite his success last year, his impressive range and PRs at a relatively young age, he still lacks the success to date of his peers. With Strand, Hoey, and Koech on the scene now Kessler seems to be going from USA's #3 miler to perhaps only our #6 runner.
His aerobic strength is lacking in comparison to the others and while his anaerobic strength is impressive, he hasn't been able to show adequate finishing speed to compete with all of the others yet. He has been able to nip Nuguse a few times this year but Nuguse is having an off year and except for a few minor wins, he still has yet to capture a significant or relevant win.
I'm personally still on the bandwagon, but with the emergence of Strand and Koech, plus Hocker, I'm almost ready to jump off and root for others unless he can start winning.

Sparling line ups. I'm looking forward to the competition.
100M Women: Giving it to MJW. Richardson I expect to run last in 11:03
100M Men: Thompson is clearly the one in fine form. Lyles for 2nd in about 9.91
200M Women: Looking forward to seeing Jackson's form.
I like that Friday night set up they have, boxing the women's pole vault, high jump and shot put together. That's probably a city event at a shared venue.
Duplantis' sister is in the pole vault. She's got a personal best of 4.39. Both of the Moll twins from Washington are competing. They finally get to travel to Europe after seeing their Husky running teammates do it all summer. Amanda Moll has to be the greatest Liker on Instagram. Every post even semi-related to Washington track and field, she Likes it
BTW, the women's 100 hurdles is so deep and with all of them wanting to compete that it's frequently split into two heats before the main television window. Then the survivors advance to the final. The commentators don't always mention it.
As others have emphasized the women's 400 hurdles is essentially a world championships final preview. Good test for Bol. Cockrell and Jasmine Jones like to round into form and not show their cards early. Bol is still susceptible to underestimating them in the Tokyo final. But Dalilah Muhammad and Savannah Sutherland run hard every time. Bol has not attempted to go out fast all season. She may decide she doesn't need to do that this season, with Sydney elsewhere.
Bol said yesterday that it's disappointing Sydney has chosen 400 flat this year. It's still hilarious that Shannon Sharpe was remarkably ignorant enough to believe that Femke Bol would claim Sydney is ducking her. Classic case of applying American male peer pressure frailty and pretending the same attaches everywhere.

Since 2020, Bol is 53-3 in the 400m Hurdles. Only losses were:
2021 World Championships Final - McLaughlin, Muhammed
2022 World Championships Final - McLaughlin
2024 Olympics Final - McLaughlin, Cockrell
Bol is really good, but it’s no coincidence the 3 losses are when she actually faces the best the event has to offer (eg Americans who don’t compete on the DL frequently).
