Devastated for Addy getting tripped in the 800m final today. She most likely would have won the race were it not for that mishap.
She has worked hard and had had great results this year in the D against world class competition. She leads the DL in the 800m rankings so hoping she makes it to Tokyo.
It’s been great cheering for her in the DL and looking forward to the final. Hope to see her in Tokyo and get a podium.
The "next level"? She is leading the Diamond League right now. She's beaten Hull, Reekie, Mu, Moraa, Nakaayi, Goule-Toppin, Werro, Bourgoin, Sekgodiso, Maloney, Lamont, and others. Thats 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 8th in the Olympic final. She will rise to #5 in the World on Wednesday. She broken the 1000m Area Record twice. World Indoor, World Road Mile teams. If it wasn't for the trip, she would have easily made the team and almost certainly would have won; nobody in that field can kick like her, see the London and Monaco DLs.
I would not be at all surprised if she beats Hunter Bell in the DL Final to make it to Tokyo and then is our top American there.
She at at the top level now and there is no coach who could possibly have gotten her this far. Lauren Johnson has done an amazing job with her for 5+ years and there is no way she is ever changing coaches. That's a stupid suggestion and is not worth even saying since it will never happen.

Hunter moved out of lane 1 into lane 2 and totally cutoff Addy. nobody can know if Addy would have won the race, but she was in good position to kick and land one of the top 3 spots. Megan’s move deserved a DQ.

She finished ninth, which is where her seed time slotted her from the semis. Meghan Hunter, who you think she would have easily outkicked, was tripped up from behind but managed to finish 5th -- possibly because she wasn't running on fumes.
You can say whatever you want about the coach situation, but the comment about positioning is just clear bias. She was less boxed than Willis and ahead of her. That is better position. Now, Congdon had a clearer run to the front but was behind a la Lutkenhaus in the men’s race vis a vis Brazier. So that has its pluses and minuses. Wiley was in a fine spot to kick for the win or top 3. Let’s not act like Meghan Hunter wasn’t an agent of chaos out there. If she looks before veering out or has any awareness that she was dying and her only chance was to hope for an opening in front of her, nothing happens. But she careened out of control instead.

I am a fan of cancer survivor and WR holder Addy Wiley. People on here love to find reasons to hate and paint someone into a villain. More of a you problem than a her problem.
She had plenty of time to recover and had nothing left. She was not positioned great at all. Just like Mu, this happens and it sucks. Some of it is tactical. Now she has to earn it in the Diamond league.

watch the race again. it took her over 10 strides to recover, it was a miracle she didnt fall. by the time she did she was in a jog while the rest of the field had started their kicks. zero chance to recover.
and she was positioned fine, right alongside Maggi Congdon. if not for that trip she and Maggi sprint together, probably get 2nd and 3rd and Sage Hurta doesn't go to Tokyo. in fact the trip is what opened up a lane for Roisin Willis, Wiley may have won the whole thing.

You're missing the point. She gets the hate that she does because of who she associates with.
Wiley tried the run hard and lead strategy in the semi and barely qualified for the final.
Then she tried the hang around in fifth while running in lane two strategy in the final. Not her fault she was cut off but her fault she wasn't decisive at all.
My guess was she hoped the seas would part at the top of the stretch and she'd pick off tiring runners but Willis had already outkicked her in the semi and Congdon has the better kick. Looks like she ran to not lose.

But even that could be a positive depending on how you look at it. She has stayed loyal to the people who have always supported her, even when she could have become much more popular with the bigwigs in the sport and the industry (and through them, the general running world) by ditching them. There's a good chance she also turned down more lucrative endorsement deals in order to remain with her current coach. Is there nothing virtuous about that?
Not trying to excuse everything the Johnsons (at least N.) or even Addy herself has ever done, but people should at least try to see the other side.

Just watched it about 10 times. Hunter was on the line between lanes 1 and 2 and in front of Wiley when the contact happened. Hunter was moving just slightly out to pass someone else and Wiley was pushing too tight on the curve when she didn’t have the space. The contact and trip is what led Hunter to look she was flailing and move further out into lane two. There was no dramatic move to lane 2 or awkward arm flailing until the trip from behind.
Unfortunate, but not nearly as bad on Hunter’s part as many in this thread are trying to make it out to be. I actually think it cost Hunter her momentum and mojo and that might have also cost her a chance top 3.
