i just wanna know how galen rupp got into the race
how did Deena step up bigtime this year? Aside from London (which was fantastic but somewhat expected) she has done little to note elsewhere, especially on the track.
I thought Deena was supposed to run Helsinki? The American should have at least two sub 13:05 come tomorrow. I love Bob Kennedy but I would love to see the AR come down by Bernard Lagat or any American under 12:50 or at least sub 12:55 (Lagat on a good day is really the only chance we have for that tomorrow).
I know how Rupp got into the race; but I want to know who thinks that this is a good race for him??? There are many European races that would be more appropriate for him. Another example of how good runners are not necessarily good coaches.
I think Abdi has a shot at sub 13:10, he has run 27:20 low earlier this year and went 13:13 last year.
LAGAT TESTED POSITIVE FOR DRUGS. IT ISN'T A SUSPICION, IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED AND SOMEONE DID HIM A HUGE FAVOR BY RUINING HIS B SAMPLE. how quickly we forget.
haha, Vipam, looks like you were owned. go back and read "anti"'s post. hits the nail on the head.

Erm, if you look you will see that at least 50% of the posts on this thread have been made by Vipam.
Lagat can run sub 12:55 in a properly paced race. Milers can kick butt in the 5K. EL G, now lagat takes down Bekele. Webb, are you listening?
LAGAT 51,2 last lap....incredible!
webb is not lagat, not anytime soon either, and i know webb beat lagat in an early season european 1500 a few years ago, overall though lagat is the faster and more consitent runner, webb is younger, but that is the only advantage webb has, if they raced each other 50 times next year lagat would win at least 45.
F*** Lagat. he will never be a true American.
Runf3 your village called and they want you back, their missing their idiot.

Bernard Lagat needs to stop procastinating and take down the 5000m American Record. Bob Kennedy even said he is ready for it to fall and thinks its been around too long.
WHAT COULD BERNARD LAGAT DO and could he take over number 1 ranking if he focused alot more on the 3000m/5000m?

Posters how many athletes have run sub 3:30 and sub 13 minutes in the same season, Bernard Lagat has done it two years straight?
Which event does Lagat have a better chance at winning in 2008? I would have to say 5000 since championship races are usually quite slow. He's proven he can outkick the best at 5000, and his 1500 in Athens was incredible too, but I just think the 5000 is his better chance. What do you think he'll run? He stated at the Pre classic last year he wants to run the 1500 in China but he may change his mind after beating Bekele. Would he double? 2 golds would be awesome, and is a possibility.

Daniel Komen in 1997 (3:29.46 and 12:39.74, 12:44.90 and 12:48.98)
Hicham el Guerrouj in 2003 (3:29.76, 3:29.13, 3:28.40 and 12:50.24, 12:52.83)
That's it. The drug cheat Ali Said-Sief run sub13 in 2000 and sub3:30 in 2001, but he doesn't count.
2 Golds isn't out of the question for Bernard Lagat but not likely in his current form. I agree his chances at Gold in the 5000m is much than the 1500m. He is still is one of five athletes who could snatch gold in the 1500m; whereas, in the 5000m he is the man to beat.
----
Lagat under 3:30
Bernard Lagat stormed to an impressive 1500m victory in 3:29.68, narrowly missing a new US record he set last year in Rieti with 3:29.30. Tarek Boukensa of Algeria also ran a solid 3:31.58 which earned him second place.
----
FINALLY BERNARD LAGAT speaks about possible AR in 5000m. Will Kenenisa pull the same tactics that posted his recent 12:48 and relegated the rest of the field to times over 13 minutes. What TIME do you think BERNARD LAGAT will run in Berlin and do you think he will beat Bekele again?
Bernard Lagat quoted from IAAF website:
“What makes Rieti so special for middle distance runners is that we have no big meeting feeling,” confirmed Lagat. “I do not feel pressure and I compete very relaxed. I ran badly in Zürich because I felt sick there. But after winning the 3000 metres in Birmingham I began thinking that I could run 3:29 in Rieti. I expect many things in the coming meetings. I will run the 5000 metres in Berlin next week where I face Kenenisa Bekele. I know that he can run under 12:50. If I ran 12:50, I would be very happy.”
Kenny B needs to win the Berlin 5000m to be eligible for 5 wins out of the 6 Super Golden League Meets. The probability is great of him employing that same tactic in Brussels in which he gapped Eliud Kipchoge by almost 14 seconds will be in play against Lagat. Going out in 2:31, 2:29, 2:34 and only slowing slowly after the win is secure. If Bernard sticks around Kenny B. will not let up slightly like he did in Brussels after 3000m. A sub 12:45 could be the outcome for the winner unless Kenny B has a brain cramp and tries a slow pace and kick.
