Sorry but the report is EXTREMELY damning if you actually read it. Of course Brosnan and the parents are just saying everything they can to allow their daughters to remain eligible, so what they say definitely isn't an accurate representation of the facts.
"Prospect 1 entered the transfer portal on December 12, 2022, and prospect 2 entered on January 2, 2023. Two of Brosnan’s 11 phone calls with prospect 1’s father occurred at 10:25 p.m. and 11:07 p.m. on December 11, 2022, the night before prospect 1 entered the portal. Prospect 1’s father initiated both calls. Brosnan then initiated a phone call to prospect 1’s father the following day. The call concluded 13 minutes before prospect 1 entered the portal. Prospect 1’s father then called Brosnan three minutes after prospect 1 entered the portal."
Agreed. It even says that in November 2022 Brosnan approached his compliance officer about them transferring, even though they weren’t in the portal. Said the father was talking to Brosnan’s wife about it!
These are important details not explained by those claiming it was just old pals chatting. Which is why they are leaving them out.
As been said a couple times in this thread if he had just played by the rules that the rest of us play by he'd still be at ucla. and all three of those girls would still be at ucla.
And when i say the rules the rest of us play by I mean the majority of us... sure there are other cheaters out there but that doesn't mean this guy should be let off.
he tampered as was caught because he made it obvious.
Because countless appeals are won for athlete hardship. I guess you didn't read the report. It's a self own by the NCAA negligence to not look after the well being and safety of athletes.
30 page report. NCAA glances over their acquittances with a coach and their investigator. This is a 3rd world investigation. It's actually rather humorous reading. Feels they had to ding him with a level 2 violation to make the hyenas happy.
Bro, called a friend. Every coach in the NCAA has a pre existing relationship with someone. Sounds like the NCAA got a stick so far up there as$ they’re practically choking on it.
This is absolutely insane. They issued a violation not for actually breaking any rules, but apparently just because you can’t be friends with someone who has kids and runs track at another college if you’re a coach. I’m no lawyer, but it feels like the NCAA is seriously crossing some major legal boundaries here.
I don’t think anyone has actually read this entire report. It clearly states that both Brosnan and the parents had previous relationships before UCLA, and there was no real evidence of tampering. The NCAA is basically saying he can’t even talk to pre-existing friends if their kids play or run at another NCAA college. The report even admits that tampering is usually straightforward, “but this case involved unique circumstances”. They admit Brosnan didn’t actually tamper, but the calls he made to friends are being called tampering( technically ) just because those friends have children at other universities. This is honestly the most absurd thing I’ve ever seen. If Brosnan gets a good lawyer, he’s definitely going to win big $.
Cmon- I read it and the timeline of the phone calls the days they entered the portal are enough to convince me he was discussing the transfer - not coincidence
Listen, this case is a nightmare for the NCAA. If anyone actually read the damn thing—though I’m sure the critics didn’t—they’d see there’s zero proof of wrongdoing. The NCAA has the burden of proof and couldn’t find a single text or call about recruiting? I even showed it to my Lawyer wife, who knows antitrust law, and she said Brosnan has a massive case against them. They’re basically telling him who he can hang out with outside work or talk with. The NCAA has nothing—no evidence, no case. This is a total disaster for them. I hope Brosnan pursues this.

JC, I was thinking the exact same thing. Reading this damn thing actually made Brosnan look innocent for once. The NCAA straight up admits there were no phone calls to any athletes before the portal even opened, and the calls they made with parents weren’t about recruiting. Plus, he’s known these parents way before he even started coaching at UCLA. What the actual fu@k did the NCAA post this for? I was indifferent about this crap before, but now I’m wondering what the hell the NCAA is thinking. This whole situation is a joke.
