Corrrect. That was a yawn. I'm not even sure if it passes for violent. He didn't try to hurt the guy. He was pushing him to the side.
DQ? Yes. Ejection from the meet? No.
You think that would be an ejection in any other sport? In football, you can literally grab any opponent and throw them to the ground and only get 10 yards for holding.
Rojo was 100% on the mark. DQ. Move on.
lol
All kidding aside: If either of you were dumped like that in a race you’d never stop crying about it. Never.

He put both hands on the guys shoulder, from behind, and aggressively pulled him backwards and down to the ground while running at sub 60 second 400 pace.
The was the dirtiest attempt to pass on the inside I've seen. If this was a soccer defender taking down someone with a clear path to the goal from behind, it would 100% be a red card + ejection. I would be ok with this athlete being prohibited from racing the 5000m.
Was anyone there? Was there a confrontation after the race? I'm sure the Northeastern teammates were probably furious and made a lot of noise about it.
Rojo is based in the USA ... when he says football he almost surely means north american football. This would not be an ejection is north american football (of course it would be in soccer, but rojo was not talking about soccer ... an understandible error on your part as "holding" is a foul in both footballs). I'm not defending the stupidity of Rojo's comment in general. This is obviously an ejection in many other sports and this should definitely be an ejection in track. Track does not have the same rules as every other sport. What is rojo going to say next ... this wouldn't be a foul in UFC fighting? So what.
Has anyone considered that McDonnell is just a beer guy? My first thought after watching the video - wow, I’d like to have a beer with this guy. Seems to me that he’s just bringing some energy to the sport. Should he have asked that runt to politely move over during the race? “Excuse me can u please let me pass?” No. Get outta my way or ur face goes in the ground. Now THAT is track and field!!
can we all calm down with this?? Clearly we are dealing with an NU athlete who is NOT a beer guy. The way he got mad at the situation just because Declan needed him to move out of the way was NOT chill at all!!!! I agree with timwaltzfan that my initial thought when seeing Declan kindly move him out of the way was..”man I’d love to have a beer with that guy”… NOT the NU athlete
So everyone is upset about this but the Matt Bodon incident of 2020 gets a free pass?
Just trying to understand where the line is here. Some might even call it a racing incident like in F1. Maybe it was a push, but the commentator was meat riding hard saying that this Declan guy was fading. Anyway to those comparing it to UFC or NFL, that’s a cornball move
The new head of FEMA has no issue with this tactic.
“Obfuscation, delay, undermining. If you’re one of those 20 percent of people and you think those tactics and techniques are going to help you, they will not, because I will run right over you,” Richardson said. “Don’t get in my way,” he added. “I know all the tricks.”
