And Dot McMahan (Hansons) will be 49 years old in November. She was the 3rd master behind Des Linden and Sarah Hall and several minutes ahead of Kiera. She did not have an 8 year hiatus like Kiera so she has way more lifetime mileage meaning age is not an excuse.

So an outlier proves a theory. How effin stupid is this line of thinking.

D'Amato is 41, coming off an injury, didn't have a long buildup and is in a new training environment.

So because some other runner ran well when she was older, D'Amato should live up to those standards.

If you noticed, Eyestone's comments were pretty reserved pre-race. She's coming off of an injury & is 40 years old. It happens.

One of the things I've noticed as a serious masters runner is that your good days can be almost as good as your best days a decade earlier, but they're fewer and farther between. It takes longer to get fit (which means more chance for an injury during your buildup), your peak doesn't last as long before you need to back off, and if you overdo it, it takes longer to get out of a hole.

Stupid post. 40 year olds run 2:20 in the marathon. Age is no excuse for you not to do the same.

Maybe just a bad day or not fully back in shape after injury. Either or the age odometer is beginning to hit her. It is what it is.

Not sure that Eyestone is great for aging athletes or that the training is sustainable for long periods of time. Jared Ward is 36 years old and hasn’t been competitive for the last 5 years. That means that his decline started at 31 years old. The same age as Clayton Young is now. Conner Mantz is 28.

Let me know the fastest 35 year old marathoner under the Eyestone training.

Can anyone confirm whether or not she reinjured herself? Someone commented that she seemed to be limping as she was finishing up. Hopefully just cramping up.

She hasn’t said anything about injury, and she’s leading shakeout runs in Eugene this weekend.

not sure if you have followed the sport but everyone that has a few good races remains on that same linear climb. the human body is an unpredictable thing.

just because it was capable of producing at X doesn't mean it will at Y.

College coaches don’t have to concern themselves with longevity. They get young, fresh athletes who are there for four years, leave and are replaced by other young fresh athletes.
