If one of the migrant workers gets injured on the job, does the farm pay for medical care?
How does that work?
The St. Pierres have issued a statement stating all workers were hired legally:
"On April 21, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents detained several of our employees. We do not know the details or reasons at this time. We have cooperated fully with their instructions.
"Our employees were hired following the federal and state employment requirements. We remain supportive of our employees and appreciative of the valuable role they play in our community, performing essential work on our farm.
"We hope this matter is resolved quickly. Any other questions will need to be directed to US Customs and Border agents."

it is true that Elle makes it look like she and Jamie do all the backbreaking work on the farm. I’m very curious to see where this goes. Because if they’re not paying their workers and taking advantage, that is extremely serious

just to clear a few things up whether it matters to the few here who read:
no article says they are illegal yet. there are programs for legal migrant labor.
regardless of status, migrant labor isnt synonymous with taking advantage of people. treatment is up to the farm itself. the workers are there because they went there, so im sure they are treated just fine.
migrant workers are given housing, meals, and are able to work with little expenses so they can send more money home.
often the migrant workers have a longstanding relationship with the farm.
the people i know who brought in h-2a workers did so because they were tired of an unreliable, slow and sparse local worker pool. they were happy to pay the migrant workers more because they are better workers.
perhaps ellie and husband dont do much work but i highly doubt that. if you know anything about dairy work then youll know there is plenty around the clock work for everyone. i personally believe dairy workers need to be recognized as one of the most highly demanding and low return jobs out there. much respect to them.

FYI, the President you voted for sent in the feds to raid to Amish farmers for selling raw milk. I guess Democrats don't like enforcing the law for illegal immigrants but they love bringing the hammer down on American citizens. Elon campaigned in Amish country and made sure they swung PA for Trump.

Can you tell us where Ellie is housing her migrant workers? How much they are paid? What kind of meals they receive? Also, how are their medical needs taken care of?
You seem like you know a lot about the migrant issues, so I"m sure you can provide the answers!

This is the beauty of it. If an illegal gets injured, you anonymously report them to ICE and they get deported, thus ending any obligation to the employee.

Article contains a key clue as to why St. Pierre's farm may have been targeted: several of the migrant workers were member of Migrant Justice, a Vermont immigrant rights organization.
We've seen several instances where the Trump administration "made" someone illegal by revoking their visa or green card because they were too outspoken, didn't inform them of the change, and then immediately arrested them for being in the country illegally. This may well be a case where they were all legal migrant workers who had their status secretly revoked for political reasons.

But democrats told us raising minimum wage will increase costs a little bit but the boost to the economy will far outweigh those increases and everyone will benefit.
So why are Democrats all of a sudden supporting big companies paying slave wages?
You all literally just did a 180 on your own argument to celebrate companies firing Americans to hire illegals for 1/10th of the cost.

What would a fair wage be for daily, meat, and produce farmers? Then Americans will b*tch when milk, cheese, beef, poultry, eggs, fruits and veggies are unaffordable for most. Migrant workers rally the MA6A base, but the reality of the economic contribution to our economy is immense. It's a serious conversation that needs serious adults and there's not many in DC these days.
