We live is violent times. But anymore violent than the past statistically and proportionately? Not so sure? People are far far less likely to “just let things go” nowadays. I call it ‘CFM Syndrome’ - a ‘Cage Fight Mentality’. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve avoided physical confrontations with other dudes over stupid things like parking spaces and line cuts. You just have to let that crap go. When I have seen other seriously big guys let the small stuff go and walk away demonstrating that it simply not important and waste of personal energy - I’m inspired and in awe.
Recently, I was in a Starbucks where some big dude who was with his family deliberately cut me off as I was standing in line for a long, long before him. I had backed away to let others pass with their shopping cart. He jumped in front of me and I said to him, “Hey I was in line” and he then got super mad and said “You were standing over there and you don’t have to be a Dick about it!” He was challenging me to a fight. Then, another big dude who was in line for awhile in front of me, spun around and said to the other big dude, “I was right behind him the whole time and What in the hell is your problem!!!” and they both started to scream and shout at each other and it looked like it was going to go violent, so I just turned around and walked out and said “Gentlemen enjoy your coffee. Have a nice day!”
