Found it well, interesting to read about the several so called “headliners” named in this race. The only true headliner is Schweizer. The others are all equally NOT headliners.
The 14:18 runner probably would object. And like it or not Tuohy is popular around NY.
Millrose 3k - Karissa and Katelyn. Will be great to see these two back racing. Morgan is in it too.
And Hilda Olemomoi/FL.
After her 14:52/5k last month @ BU, excellent opportunity her to break Tuohy's current 8:35/3k CR.
But will Tuohy's 8:35/3k still be the CR come Millrose? There's a BU meet the week before with another BU meet the weekend of. Alabama is not entered in either, but Doris Lemngole might not need the BU track to start collecting more records.
Doris entered in the mile (Fri) and 3000 (Sat) at Clemson this week. To be streamed on ACCNX

I’ll give Tsigie a break. But although I love Tuohy she’s not in my opinion at this point considered a headliner in this type of event.
Are you kidding? Wiley has received 10 times as much negative comments here. Valby received 5 times as much. Maybe more.
That’s fair. Wiley gets a lot of hate, and with real venom behind it. I don’t think Valby gets the same viciousness though. She gets some negative comments, but not the tone of vitriol and spite directed at Tuohy (or admittedly Wiley).
Good catch. Decent competition. We'll see how well she has maintained fitness since the BU Opener last month. Fully expect her to run fast enough to secure her top-16 NCAA Q spots in both races.
Two other potential contenders for Tuohy's 8:35/3k CR are Pam Kosgei/NM & Amy Bunnage/Stanford.
NM does not have any BU meets on its schedule, opting instead for a couple UW meets and a ND meet on their oversized tracks -- thus, no official record attempts for her. But Kosgei certainly would seem capable of something around 8:35, especially with pro competition.
Stanford, on the other hand, has a couple BU meets forthcoming. Bunnage already has her 5000 top-16 indoor Q from last month, so expect her to be all-out for 3k and mile efforts. Amy would not seem to be a CR candidate as she has yet to display the finishes that Lemngole, Olemomoi and Kosgei have shown. Yet, she split 9:05.90/3k (w/lead pack) enroute to her 15:00.75/5k, almost catching Kosgei, so Bunnage has shown she can pick it up at the end. Amy was not entered in Stanford's first full-team opener last weekend at UW; however, do not know if that means anything or not. Bunnage didn't open her xc season until ACCs, so maybe less racing means better races for her.
That's quite a Big-4 women's distance contingent running NCAAs this winter. Doris, Hilda and Amy appear to have improved immensely since last year, taking over where Katelyn & Parker left off. Then, and Pamela. Sure seems there's more records coming from this quartet.

A headliner is a name placed above others to help drive attendance and sell tickets.
If Taylor Swift was going to run a 17 minute 3000 singing her concert lyrics for tour fitness, she would be a better headliner than any runner.
Similarly at the Armory, Touhy would be a better headliner than even a star like Sifan Hassan, since New Yorkers know who she is, and will come out to watch.

Did you say New Yorkers know who she (or others) is? Let’s be frank, the Armory will be filled up with high school kids, their parents and a few family and friends of the older runners. That’s it. New Yorkers aren’t interested in track and have no clue who any of the competitors are including the so called headliners.

Well I know at least 6 people going into NYC to watch her race, hit a restaurant, and later a jazz club. Will watch other races, but only going due KTs particiation.
When my son runs in NY, at we get at least 20 friends and family there to watch him.
If my daughter runs in NY, we would hire at least 40 people to cheer for her. We would also hire four runners to pace her, and 8 more runners to finish just behind her.
Exactly the point NY doesn’t care was making…Friends and family. Not average NYers
The meet organizers are happy no matter who purchases a ticket. In our case 4 are nyc residents, 2 from the burbs.
Yes of course they’ll be happy. But you said we need a headliner like Tuohy to draw NYers in. Friends and family of the runners don’t give a crap who the headliner is because they’re going anyway. And no other NYers give a crap even more so.

Yes. she is a 5x NCAA champion and one of the most famous former college and HS runners in the US. She is famous compared to most other US runners and for sure a headliner. Don't listen to the haters

4x NCAA champion. Only 10 NCAA women have won 5 or more titles at 800m and up and she is not one of them. There are also at least 6 other NCAA runners that have won 4.
