It wasn't just the fall at the Trials. She made her "comeback" three weeks afterward in Gainesville and took a beating. She had absolutely nothing left coming into the final 100m. It was the first loss to an American in an 800m final since USATF Indoors in February 2020, and she lost to three Americans. I think there are at least five Americans who are better than her right now. She needs a sports psychologist as much as she needs a coach if you ask me.
And yes, I am well aware than I spelled trajectory wrong, but I can't change it now.
Yes, I recall that race. She was obviously depressed from what happened at the Trials, and she wasn't in good shape after missing so much training time due to injury. That race doesn't tell us anything about how she'll perform this year.
I actually like that you spelled your name, "tragectory." I think it's an apt amalgamation of "tragic" and "trajectory," and I agree that her trajectory the past two years that she's been with Kersee has been tragic. I hate what Kersee has done with her, and I hope she switches back to her college coach who's now based in LA.
Even if Mu stays with Kersee, I'm encouraged by her Instagram Story post. It suggests that she's moved past what happened at the Trials, and she's looking ahead to this year. Mu at 100% is still the best 800m runner in the country and one of the best in the world.
