Come on. Germany has good wursts, cakes, and pastries. It has an abundance of bakeries with good bread. It has excellent beer. But seriously, as a national cuisine, it doesn't rate much above Eastern Europe. You can't compare it with French or Czech or Hungarian bakeries, aside from the cakes. Slathering thick sauces over meat so that you can't taste the meat, German cuisine is hearty, not palatable. Glühwein is absolutely disgusting and they love it. German Turkish food has some small virtues, namely, price and ubiquity, and I don't mind the occasional falafel im Brot with vegetables, but the Döner kebab and box mit Pommes make you sick. They are manufactured products shipped around entire regions by one or a few companies, not cooked individually. There is a variety of Indian and even Himalayan food. The hamburgers tend to be disgusting and the hamburger meat in the grocery stores, like the grocery store ice cream, is terrible. Fruits and vegetables are decent. German cooking may not be inferior to British but I'd take fish and chips and British Indian food over German any day.
