I say we only take them if they agree to be like Puerto Rico or Guam - with no voting representation in the House or Senate.
Give them citizenship and free trade but we don't need a 2nd California state where every political meeting begins with a land acknowledgement. I think the Canadians will be fine with it as they won't have to be ruled by Trudeau and they can't complainn too much as they don't have any nukes.
rojo is probably the 3rd dumbest poster on letsrun, behind Sally Vix and Disco Gary. It's unfathomable that someone who graduated from Princeton could be that dim.
Canada can't all be one big state, that would demote Alaska and Texas.
It has its own states, called provinces or territories and Quebec. The provinces can become states, except Saskatchewan which does not really exist. The Northwest territories remain a territory, as nobody really lives there or has even explored it yet.
Quebec doesn't get to join, it can be part of France, or an independent French country. Our Cajun French are way cooler than the Quebecois, we shouldn't spoil that.
It is hilarious to see Trump make jokes and watch the crazy lefties' heads explode. It's a joke, people. Good Lord! The left has forgotten how to laugh. Sad, really.
Trump will continue to say outrageous things and his followers will eat it up. Remember: this is a convicted felon, adulterer, scam artist, liar, rapist who sells the bible.

are you sure is making jokes or just really stupid and senile while his followers continue to think he is of Einstein calibre intellect?

Holy jesus... you actually put thought into this.
Maybe you add a note to their passports, stating Canadians are not allowed to vote unless they vote GOP?
Man the idiocy is strong with Trump people. Trump can't force a sovereign nation to become a state. If for some reason Canada wanted to be a state, and went through the very lengthy process to do so, if wouldn't be the 51st state. Each Provence, possible with some border changes, would likely remain a state.
You couldn't make the entire country a state as it's too big in size and population.
In theory, the 10 provinces of Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland/Labrador, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia would become new states, while the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut would remain territories as their populations/economies are too low/small. The least populous US State, Wyoming, has around 600,000 residents, while the three Canadian territories all have less than 50,000. The least populous Canadian province, PEI, has ~150,000 people, which would be quite small for a US State (possibly degrading it to territory status in this alternate world). Nova Scotia, Newfoundland/Labrador, and New Brunswick are all <1M residents but >500K.
Not that this would ever happen, of course. Buying Greenland is (albeit barely) more realistic than annexing Canada as Canada is the 2nd biggest country by size, the 9th biggest country by GDP, and the 39th biggest country by population, meaning they're doing pretty well on their own. The vast majority of Canadians would not want to give up their national identity and culture to become Americans. Also, how would the existing Canadian government/political parties be reconciled with the American government/political parties? Canadian politics are generally left of the American political spectrum.
This is the 21st century, folks. Country borders are pretty much set save for a third world war, or local regional conflicts that wouldn't happen in this part of the world. The only way Canada and/or Greenland is annexed by the US would be through a purchase (more likely for Greenland). As for Canada, the only way this would happen would be through massive popular and political support from both sides, like if Canada needed to join the US for protection in the event of a global conflict, and the US also needed backup (mutually helping each other).
